I booked it for our last night as I knew it was near to where we would be staying but probably going to be the best and most expensive meal whilst weโre here. We sat outside with a nice breeze so it wasnโt too hot (Aruba does not drop below 28! ๐ฅต so the winds are a god send!) Our server was the nicest guy ever! He was so helpful and just a really happy guy. They bought out bread for both of us (mine gluten free) with garlic herb butter and olive tapenade - first round free. Then Jamie ordered the 16oz Ribeye and I had Grouper filet (fish) filled with Boursin cheese. I was nervous about trying a new fish but the server went through absolutely everything with me and happily discussed other options on the menu! Gluten free was also clearly stated on this menu which was nice as I may have mentioned in a previous post - not many restaurants have this in Aruba. The food was definitely a 10/10 for me. It was incredible! You will get stray dogs and cats that come by, but they do not bother you. You are not allowed to pet them or feed them as they are well looked after by Yemanja who work closely with one of the stray foundation charities on the island. We added on a complimentary donation to our bill at the end as well as a tip! If youโre from the UK like we are, tipping is huge over there, just like the US.. something Iโm not very good at and never have been ๐ so that was different for us. Lunch & Dinner at some of my favourite finds ๐ซถ๐ป๐ฆ Waters Edge Location: Costa Linda Beach Resort, Eagle Beach area Another great find overlooking the beach ๐ with gluten free wraps and bread available, all cooked seperately with a dedicated fryer for fries. We went here as a last minute decision (wish weโd found it earlier) but I have read some reviews o saying that if you call in advance and speak to the owner, he will order in anything to help make things such as breaded fish, calamari or chicken tenders gluten free, and will make sure he speaks to you before arrival, which I think is just great and so reassuring! I went for the chicken quesadillas and the local lizards came to join as they could obviously smell the veg in my salsa ๐ Terezza Italiana Location: Paradise Beach Villas, Eagle Beach. This was a great find! It was a cute rooftop Italian overlooking Eagle Beach ( #1 beach in the Caribbean and top 10 in the world!) which would be amazing to sit and overlook at sunset. We didnโt get there til 8pm by which time it was dark but still cute with all the lights. We spoke to a lady, who I believe was the owner who explained she was gluten free so knows the importance of having gluten free options on the menu, and the safety of cross contamination which made me feel like Iโd made the right choice to eat here! I ordered the chicken Alfredo and the portion was huuuge and this was one of the more reasonably priced restaurants we found! I wish weโd known about it earlier as well, as we would definitely have eaten here more than the once. The Ritz-Carlton, Aruba ๐ฉต I really wanted to go to, and eat at the Ritz-Carlton whilst here and we needed somewhere for lunch so I messaged them on instagram this morning and they responded quite quickly advising they were able to cater for gluten free. We took a trip down and spoke to the server who was the most attentive, and most knowledgeable we have spoken to so far. I felt in safe hands straight away. They advised they can make all the tacos and nachos gluten free, and they also had bread and wraps available. Everything is prepared and cooked seperately, even the chips in their own dedicated fryer. I opted for the โTrio of fish tacosโ which was 1x shrimp, 1x lobster & 1x mahi mahi. Iโd been wanting to try mahi mahi since being here and thought this was a good way to do it! (Obviously I chose the most expensive thing on the menu at $35. Bank accounts currently having a heart attack) ๐ I definitely made the right choice though cause it was honestly SO good!! Lindaโs Dutch Pancakes ๐ฅ I already knew Lindaโs was good, but when we turned up the place was SO busy and so I knew then it was definitely going to be a great meal!! They offer gluten free, and itโs all cooked seperately too! I went for the ham, mushroom and Gouda cheese savoury Dutch pancake, and Jamie had Nutella, strawberries and Oreo ice cream. Dinner on a pirate ship ๐ดโโ ๏ธ Today we went out on a morning cruise and snorkel with the Jolly Pirates, who came highly reccomended not just for their fun tour, but their food! They provide a bbq which is fully gluten free!!๐๐ป๐๐ป It was a perfect end, to a great cruise! We got to snorkel around a sunken world war 2 German cargo ship, and managed to spot another turtle ๐ข๐ฅฐ The tour is for both adults and children, and they have an open bar serving alcohol for adults and soft drinks for kids ๐นโ๏ธ๐ Tonight weโve stayed in with some hotdogs again and snacks ๐คฃ Iโve got myself a lovely migraine so havenโt felt well enough to eat out. Kouzina Greek ๐๐ป We decided to go out for lunch today and Iโve been hearing a lot of good reviews about @kouzina.aruba on the gluten free Aruba group Iโm in so we decided to try it out! (Canโt beat Greek food ๐) The great thing about Kouzinaโs is that everything is gluten free, other than the pitta!! The pittas are also cooked seperately. Me and Jamie both ordered the chicken souvlaki with fries, and I had feta on top of mine. The food was sooo nice, and so filling! Today was literally a dream come true ๐ We spent the day at the Renaissance Private Island surrounded by flamingoโs, pelicans, iguanas and beautiful scenery. The food was nice, but Iโve got to be honest I was a little dissapointed with the service. I had heard good things however, the waitress serving us just had no idea. I asked if the jerk chicken was gluten free, and her reply was โI have no ideaโ which, for a high end hotel restaurant isnโt good enough in my opinion. I went for the burger in the end and it was served in toasted gluten free bread which looked a bit naff but actually tasted really good ๐คฃ we then had a 50 minute couples massage on the island after which was well needed after a busy few days since arriving!! For breakfast we ate in again today, and for dinner we went for a Chinese (not very Caribbean I know, but couldnโt pass up the oppourtunity could I?!) I had Chinese chicken curry for the first time in over 2 years and it was delightful ๐คค however the bill at the end wasnโt ๐คฃ Aruba is VERY expensive!! This Chinese restaurant has been one of the only restaurants Iโve come across so far with gluten free labelled on the menu. Aruba ๐โ๏ธ๐ Day 1 Other than Aruba being a bucket list destination for me, itโs actually great for gluten free too! Iโve been in a Facebook group for a little under a year now and when I booked this in January I studied that page for the best places to go, but the choice is endless really! Flying Fishbone was one of the more expensive restaurants I have booked for this holiday, but itโs our anniversary on Friday so I thought weโd go here tonight whilst we have the car as itโs a little drive out. Itโs so so worth it! The food, the service, the setting were all perfect! We sat on the beach right next to the sea and it was just an amazing experience! Jamie had maple leaf duck breast and noodles in a sesame sauce and that also looked so nice!! Ginger restaurant ๐ซโจ located in the Tamarijn resort in Aruba. I got the spring roll as an app and salmon entree, no dessert although I believe ice cream was an option. They assured me the sauce was GF and I definitely stressed gluten free needs many many times like I always do at every restaurant, especially because there were no GF markers on the menu. This was definitely one of the better restaurants at the all inclusive for GF, which in previous years of staying here it was not my favorite but they have a lot more options here now and the waiter was knowledgable, yay! Story time๐ Someone asked me confused, "why is your kimchi vegan? Isn't it just fermented vegetables? " I loved this question, many people don't know that regular kimchi contains many seafood ingredients. Believe me I saw a kimchi labeled "vegetarian" and still containing fish ingredients. Often the fish sauce is replaced by adding regular soy sauce to make it vegan but it's not the same!! Been there done that in the beginning ๐ Kimchi must be made with care and attention, it takes time, patience and love. Only the vegetable broth takes 2 hours to make ๐ but this the best base to create a plantbased kimchi with the oceany umami flavors. We have been staying at the @ritzcarltonaruba and they are doing an amazing job feeding Jax. He has had so many options for food. At breakfast he has had French Toast, waffles, pancakes, muffins, croissants and eggs. For lunch and dinner he has had pizza, pasta, steak, grilled cheese and more. We had such an amazing meal a few nights ago at @watersedge.aruba @watersedgearuba that we had to go back again last night! I mean, when you reach out to a restaurant ahead of time about their gluten free options and the owner calls you and tells you he will get special food for your son, you pretty much know itโs going to be a good experience. Well we had a great experience. The owner Roy went out of his way to take care of Jax which was such an amazing feeling. Now about the food. To begin with they bring gluten free bread to the table. โ They have a dedicated fryer and offer regular and sweet potato fries. โ The first night Jax had a burger on a GF bun (I forgot to take a picture.) Last night he had GF fish sticks with bread crumbs they bought especially for him! They also offer a variety of โadultโ items that are GF such as fish and steak. They are super accommodating and we highly recommend Waterโs Edge!
