These two ladies are so incredibly caring towards each other. As I was cleaning the two separate whelping boxes, I placed all of the puppies together in the “play box” since I can easily tell the litters apart due to their collar types. The Mamas generally like to take this time to get outside in the sunshine and one of our children will throw the ball for them as I clean inside. I was about to put the puppies back into their separate boxes and so I let the mamas in because they were tired and needed a drink. I carefully watched them (ready to jump in at any second to separate if needed) as they smelled each other’s puppies and cleaned them. Then my jaw dropped as they both snuggled into the same box to nurse all of the puppies together. Neither mama cared who’s was who’s and they just cleaned and fed their little pack. I quickly grabbed my camera for such a tender moment. 8 months at home with me💜 I totally forgot todays date until I was getting ready for bed so y’all get the “pretend” chalkboard for the update🤪😅 But today Planet Pup got to go my psychiatrist appointment with me (that’s where the pictures are from) and he did PHENOMENAL. I go to a smaller psychiatrist office and my appointments are pretty quick usually so I figured it would be perfect opportunity and he absolutely blew me away. My psychiatrist was so excited to meet him finally. Pluto is crazy eager to please, and loves learning, and is always ready to help. Woody went on an outing to the Strongsville Fire Department, organized by the Northern Ohio Chapter of Canine Companions, followed by a great lunch at Slim & Chubby's. This lovely boy, named Ollie, truly enjoyed every exercise included in the PSD Training Course! The more he practiced with his beloved handler Sally, the more food-motivated he became! The session about dog nutrition has been particularly beneficial for the team as Sally has always enjoyed preparing food for her cute boy but needed some additional guidance in this matter. One of the biggest benefits of the course for Sally has been the increased confidence in her skills as a handler and trust in Ollie's skills as a service dog! Additionally, she has realized that Ollie has been a natural at many tasks! Now, after course completion, Sally can see the positive changes in Ollie's confidence and interest in listening to her! First✌️months with JENGA! 🦮 She’s now potty trained and sleeps through the night 84% of the time. 🥱 She’s learned all kinds of cues: shake, down, drop, here, wait, up, and is awesome at impulse control and cooperative grooming. She’s been slowly socializing and getting comfortable in grocery stores, shopping centers, healthcare facilities, and even a few restaurants. The well-groomed Toast is close to losing his 'In Training' title. As he has grown into an adult dog he is a bit of a confident scaredy cat - though can get spooked by random things, he bounces back and gets over his "fear" ridiculously quick (I literally mean within seconds). He is a fabulous service dog and just wants to be by my side. In the last stages of learning his last task, and waiting for secondary approval from his amazing trainer @aurumcanineservices, he will hopefully be a fully trained service dog soon. Malvie went on a big adventure today! We went downtown to meet the subway which brought some older prison puppies in from Shirley—the prison we don’t normally have weekend trainings with. Two of them head IFT this week. We walked around the train station and heard sirens and saw so many people and other dogs. This is a pretty advanced trip that Malvie got to do because he’s a “city pup.” We don’t take city trips for granted though, and we practiced walking on grates and bumpy manhole covers. This girl 🤍. Last night while driving, I witnessed a motorcycle accident. It was dark, as I watched the bike crash, I saw a flash of light, and then saw the rider on the ground. I was certain they were going to be badly hurt or worse. There was another rider with them who got off their bike right away and ran to them. I pulled onto the shoulder and called 911 as soon as I saw it happen. While I was on the phone, I realized that the rider who had laid over their bike was standing up and the two riders were embracing. I’m sure the other rider thought the same as I did when they looked behind and saw what happened. I have been around motorcycles my entire life and it has been a fear of mine to witness an accident. Even though I watched the rider get up, it was still a very traumatic thing to witness. While I was on the phone with 911, they were asking me detailed questions of the incident, as I was trying to recall details I started feeling a panic attack come on. About the time where I was thinking that I needed to figure out how to regain composure so that I can accurately recall the information the dispatcher needed I felt Mesa licking my arm. She continued to do this until I was off the phone with the dispatcher and had calmed down. This is not the first time she has had a response and disrupted a panic attack for me. It’s some thing she has naturally done since she was a puppy. However, I did not want to train it until she was older to be sure that it wouldn’t affect her emotional regulation. She was so calm through this. Her natural ability to read my body is incredible. I am so thankful for her. I am also very grateful that the rider stood up. I hope that they are truly OK. Please drive safe everyone and remember to look twice. It could save a life. Also, remember to leave more space between your vehicle and motorcyclists.
