This is a great fundraising opportunity for the school, with the organisers donating up to £5,000 to Frank Barnes. This is dependent on school participation and we need over 50% of our school community to be involved to secure the full amount. All money raised will be used to develop BSL within in the school and also in supporting our families to learn sign language. On Friday our EYFS classes visited @mudchute_farm and got the chance to see lots of different animals such as cows, sheep, pigs and ducks. The children feed the animals and also got to see a chicken lay an egg. Our Werewolf and Vampire (KS2) classes along with @kca_n1 enjoyed meeting the Artemis II astronauts from @nasa today @_lightroomldn inspiring them to achieve their dreams! We also watched an immersive film of the Apollo mission. Such a great opportunity. We got to ask the 4 astronauts questions. This is Frank and Barnes. Named after the nickname affectionately given to our home when my sister-in-law misheard the name of our street. Frank and Barnes were found abandoned, not long after we moved in, in the mess that was supposed to be a garden. Salvaged from the gloom, they were given prime position by the front door to welcome guests to our home. Today they were given some much needed love in the form of a makeover. Goodnight, Bloomsbury! This photo taken on the final night captures for me the magical atmosphere. It's like a scene from Narnia. It’s been a wonderful ten days exhibiting Deaf Mosaic and enabling the deaf community to 'take over' this historical square with its Georgian streets, Victorian streetlamps and London’s oldest plane trees. So many people were involved with making this happen. Thursday 6th July 2023 During Deaf Studies, Gasholders class were very lucky to be joined by Mandy Docker, one of the duo of sisters that owns Deaf Chef. She came in to lead a healthy cooking session with the children. The children made 3 yummy healthy dips to accompany some fruit- Chocolate Yoghurt, Strawberry Cheesecake and Peanut Butter dip. Mandy explained about her job and her journey with her sister setting up their new food truck. Monday 10th July We held our annual football tournament at Market Place Road and were joined by other Deaf schools, including Blanche Neville Primary and Knightsfield School. It was a hot day but the children did so well and played some good matches. The football pitches were brilliant and it was so good to see other Deaf children signing and playing sport together. Centre Parcs Day 4 - Thursday 29th June. Part 3/4 We had a mad afternoon at The Drop Jump. 3 height levels, starting at 4.5 metres, onto 7 metres. Then for adults only, onto 10metres. We had to go up flights of stairs, swallow our anxiety 😬 and brave a jump all the way down to an inflatable mat🫣. Everyone had a go which was fantastic. Some went up to the 2nd level and had a couple of goes. Some adults went further and jumped from the 3rd.
