Les comparto la primera parte de la historia de "The Film Freak", el issue número 395 de la serie regular de Batman. Aparece un nuevo criminal en la ciudad y crea el caos, recreando escenas y diálogos de películas antiguas. El Departamento de Policía de Gotham City es alertado del criminal, pero no pueden detenerlo, llamando la atención de los medios. El Batsi entra en acción junto con la compañía de Catwoman tratando de ubicar al malhechor. Julia Pennyworth, quien está investigando el caso también, decide bautizar al nuevo criminal como "The Film Freak" por su modus operandi. El joven Jason Todd se une también a la investigación, haciendo dúo con la ayuda de Harvey Bullock. La cobertura mediática de los crímenes del Film Freak permite a la policía y a Batman encontrar personas relacionadas con el criminal, que logran identificarlo como Burt Weston, un actor fracasado y ex doble de riesgo de Hollywood, que supuestamente había sido asesinado hace unos años. Esta primera parte termina con el lunático tratando de cazar y asesinar a Julia, queriendo recrear la escena de la mítica película de Alfred Hitchcock, "Psicosis". La historia continuará en el número 562 de Detective Comics. La historia está escrita por mi guionista favorito del Batsi, el maestro Doug Moench. El dibujo está realizado por el genio, genio, genio de Tom Mandrake. Amor eterno nuevamente por esa increíble portada de Mandrake, que tuvo el descaro de poner el punto débil del Murciélago... In this issue, Catwoman remembers her mysterious past: Her mother committed suicide and her father crawled into a bottle just to die there. A runaway, she was soon caught and sent to Seagate, a reform school. The place is run like a gulag, and soon enough keeping her ears open grants Selina a chance to escape. But she is caught again, and returned. The director assigns her various chores as punishment, and eventually discovers evidence the director has been falsifying reports and embezzling. A confrontation nearly gets Selina killed (chloroformed and thrown into the ocean), but she escapes and returnes. She demands the director remove her name from the records in exchange for silence, and then leaves (freeing the other girls as she does). She becomes a thief and learns the trade. A turning point comes when she learns about Batman, which motivates her to create her own costume and persona, Catwoman. At first stealing from criminals, she’s soon stealing from anyone. In the present, she plans a new heist. Her victim, a socialite whose will leaves her possessions to her cat. Acá les comparto el issue número tres de la serie regular de "Moon Knight" (Vol. 1). Moon Knight captura a un atracador, un pirómano y un francotirador en tres noches sucesivas. En cada una de esas mismas noches, exactamente a medianoche, un personaje disfrazado roba un objeto de valor. El mismo criminal ha escrito varias cartas a los periódicos burlándose de Moon Knight y firmando como "The Midnight Man". A la mañana siguiente, Moon Knight se entera de que el Hombre de Medianoche planea tenderle una trampa y, esa misma noche, Steven Grant organiza una recaudación de fondos en su mansión. Un coleccionista de arte llamado Anton Mogart le pide a Grant un favor. El Hombre de Medianoche amenazó con robar sus cuadros, por lo que quiere que Grant haga que su amigo mercenario Marc Spector los proteja. Cuando ve que Mogart ha abandonado la fiesta, se transforma en Moon Knight y hace que Frenchie lo lleve en avión a la mansión de Mogart en Nueva Jersey. Tras forzar una ventana con un dardo de media luna, golpea un cable trampa y evita por poco el rayo de la ballesta que activa. El Hombre de Medianoche sale de las sombras y promete acabar con nuestro héroe, para siempre. La historia es un clásico de confrontación entre ambos personajes, que después en el número 9 y 10 continuará. En el guión vamos a encontrar al legendario Doug Moench, responsable de todas las historias de este primer volumen. Por otro lado, en el dibujo y en las tintas, estará nuestro genio Bill Sienkiewicz tirando magia en cada página. Mi grapa es la edición yanqui de quiosco del año 1981.
