🐾 National Rescue Dog Day 🐾 The National Rescue Dog Day on May 20th brings with it a promise of love, friendship and kindness. Each year, millions of animals, especially dogs, are abandoned by their owners and end up on the streets, or surrendered to shelters or rescue organizations. Many of these dogs are accustomed to a home life, and this adjustment to their new normal can be very stressful for them. Adopting, or even fostering helps to provide love, companionship and foster a sense of trust for these dogs with their humans once again. Rescue dogs can prove to be great friends, teachers, and helpers, especially as service dogs. They can also provide emotional support to those suffering from mental health issues relating to depression, PTSD and anxiety. They can also enable young children to learn to provide care, love, and affection to other living beings through caring for them. At Dogtopia, we put our dogs at the forefront each and every day, and celebrate them 365 days a year! But today, we would like to give a special nod to all the rescue dogs out there awaiting their loving forever homes and all the dedicated and compassionate people who volunteer, donate, foster, fundraise and advocate for them 🏡 ❤️ Pictured here L-R are Louna, Dakota, Luna & Tobe - four rescue dogs currently being fostered by us at @dogtopiaauroravillage. Get to know your pups favorite human-friends!! 🧡 Hello, my name is Hannah and I am a Canine Coach and Rover at Dogtopia! I’m from Shell Lake Wisconsin. Outside of work I love to read and just be outside. I also love to hang out with my sister. Growing up I got to have my own dog. Her name was Stuff. She was a Rat Terrier/Chihuahua mix. She loved to be held and would curl up in sweatshirts or burrow under blankets. I had her for 12 years and she was my first dog and first big responsibility. Caring for her made me grow to love dogs so much. I’m getting another dog of my own TODAY!!! I’m adopting a 1-year-old long haired German Shepherd. Her name is Zariyah, but I plan on calling her “Z” for short. This will be my first dog as an adult and I’m super excited to go and get her! I love dogs because they are such great listeners. I think it’s funny when they look at me and they look judgmental, or they bark to “talk back”. The unconditional love and happiness that dogs have is also a nice perk! Also, being around them always makes my day better. Follow the leader is my favorite game to play with the dogs because all of them pay attention to you, and it feels like you are leading a dog army when all of the dogs start to follow! I love working at Dogtopia because I just love dogs and always have. I also really enjoy the people that I work with. We all just like to talk about dogs and are friends.
