Lady comes in driving her Cadillac XTS. We had been talking over the phone and email and she wanted a red Ford F-150 for her husband as an early Father's Day gift. She paid for the Ford F-150 in cash and all she had to do was come in with her husband and sign some paperwork. The only custom addition she wanted was that she wanted me to write "we can do it" on the back window. Apparently, that is what her husband would say to comfort her during their marriage when things got tough. Her husband was completely surprised and he just loved the "we can do it" quote on the rear window. Man comes in his Range Rover to my custom car lot. He has already made a small fortune in the stock market and now can partially retire and he wants to pursue his passion of owning a food truck. He want to buy my Subaru Sambar and convert it to a Mexican food truck. He also has an interest in the Chevrolet C1500 lowrider as a promotional vehicle to really bring home the Mexican atmosphere, he says it is hard to give an authentic Mexican experience here in Japan. I told him the Subaru Sambar would make an excellent basis for a food truck but the Chevrolet C1500 lowrider may not be the best fit for you. I am worried that the paint on the Chevrolet C1500 lowrider may not hold up to the abuse of being a work truck and the smaller wheels may also effect its load carrying capacity. I directed him to another Chevrolet K1500 with patina. He said "I thought that was a junk truck", I told him absolutely not, check out the engine! I told him the drive train was completely restored. Since the Chevrolet K1500 paint is already weathered you do not have to worry about scratching or damaging the paint while running your Mexican food business and this one has 4WD so it has better load carrying capacity. The man said he prefers the lowrider look of the Chevrolet C1500 and thanks me for showing him an alternative. I told him "I just want to make sure you are aware of all your options". Man comes in looking to upgrade his Datsun Truck. It is in an American specification Datsun Truck that he bought off an American Serviceman. He says now he is ready to go "full American truck" and get a Chevrolet Silverado or Ford F-150, the Datsun Truck was a bridge / stop gap. He said he wanted a top trim fully loaded truck. He says the most luxurious thing his Datsun Truck has is an AM radio. I told him modern trucks are just as luxurious as a Toyota Crown. He could not decide on which one he wanted so we spent awhile examining both trucks; comparing the engines, truck beds, interior and exterior dimensions. I told him that both are good choices and over similar capabilities, it really just comes down to which one you like best. He said he likes the fact that the Chevrolet Silverado has more chrome, similar to his Datsun Truck, he was not the biggest fan of the monochromatic look of the Ford F-150. A racing team stopped by the dealership right before closing time. They begged me to use my lifts. Apparently, both their Nissan Silvia and their Dodge Ram Van were having some major leaks and the team needed to lift the vehicles to fix the problem. They had been driving all night to make it to their racing meet-up. I told her I have something with some Zoom Zoom. I directed her to the Mazda Speed 3, I tell her that Mazda benchmarked the Volkswagen Golf GTI when they were developing the Mazda Speed 3. She loved the color saying that blue really pops, I tell her that Mazda used that same color blue in all of the promotional material for the Mazda Speed 3. We went for a test drive and she said the Mazda Speed 3 handled exactly like her Volkswagen Golf GTI, she remarked on the clutch engagement and shifting, she said she really likes a well calibrated manual transmission. I have two service customers who are strong Italianophiles. They love everything Italian! They were getting their Alfa Romeo 159 wagon and Alfa Romeo Brera serviced. I talked to the couple and they were saying they would love an Alfa Romeo two seat roadster for weekend jaunts. They were thinking about buying an Alfa Romeo Spider but I told the couple come up to the garage and check out something truly unique. I showed the Alfa Romeo RZ or Alfa Romeo Roadster Zagato. The gentleman brought it in for me to do some work paid me for half of the work and never came back. I had my Technician complete all the needed repairs, I acquired the Alfa Romeo RZ via a mechanic’s lien and now I am trying to unload the little Alfa Romeo Roadster Zagato. The couple absolutely fell in love with the little roadster. I get a call from a Mr. Jeeves, Mr. Jeeves is calling on behalf of his employer, his employer wants the ultimate expression of a British luxury motor car and the most outlandish American off-road vehicle. Mr. Jeeves is familiar with my unique inventory and my ability to curate fine vehicles. I asked Mr. Jeeves what color would the master like his cars to be? Mr. Jeeves responded that the Master likes black and white because that is how he sees the world. Mr. Jeeves also stated the Master wants something from the 1990s because that is the current trend. I told Mr. Jeeves I have exactly what he is looking for in stock, we can schedule a private showing for the Master. Mr. Jeeves said the Master would like to come tonight if possible and the Master will be bringing his wife the Mistress because he may need her assistance in driving one of the vehicles home. I cleared out the showroom and drove in the Hummer H1s and the Rolls Royce Silver Spurs in the showroom. The Master immediately said “no” to the 1998 Rolls Royce, he preferred the more classic look of the 1994 Rolls Royce. The Master absolutely adored the Hummer H1. We went on a test drive and the Master and Mistress wanted to inspect the vehicles drivetrains, and the vehicles passed their inspection. The only problem is that he could not decided on black or white. Then the Mistress spoke up and said “well you know I need something to drive too”. The Mistress continued on and said “this way we can both drive on trails and we can be chauffeured around at different times”. The Mistress wired me the money for the black and white Hummer H1s and for the black and while Rolls Royce Silver Spurs. I hope you remember the two Chevrolet Silverados that were traded in last time. As soon as I posted the two Chevrolet Silverados I instantly got an email from two business partners that are also married. Like the previous post the couple are landscapers, recently married and are just starting their business. The two men have been using that Opel Kadetts to meet clients but then rent a truck to do the actual landscaping. The two men have said that business is off to a good start and figure they can actually save money if they just buy a truck instead of constantly renting one or two trucks. When the couple arrived and saw the Chevrolet Silverados the two men said they were perfect because they matched the colors of their Opel Kadetts. I had to slow the men down a little because I had not had a chance to inspect the Chevrolet Silverados. I asked if they could wait a few hours for me to inspect the Chevrolet Silverados and the two men waited patiently. Two business partners who are also a married couple came in to trade in their old twin Chevrolet Silverados, the two men were interested in twin Ford F-150s. They met while doing landscaping together, fell in love and then started their own landscaping business with these very two Chevrolet Silverados. Now, they have expanded their business and are no longer going to be working out in the field so they want something that is luxurious enough for executives but at the same time can be driven into the field. They know now days that pick-up trucks can be just as luxurious as any Mercedes or Cadillac and they like the features of the Ford F-150. The couple especially likes the stripe package on the Ford F-150s making theirs a bit more unique in the sea of Ford F-150s. Two Detectives from Osaka came to my dealership. They were interested in purchasing a Hummer H1 to do community outreach activities. They figured a vehicle that was very outlandish would get attention and young people to come over. I brought the Hummer H1 down to them and upon seeing just how big the Hummer H1 is, the detectives began to change their minds. I agreed and told them that in order for your department to do community outreach you need a vehicle that can drive into the communities, you will have limited reach in a Hummer H1 which defeats the whole purpose of community outreach. I decided to show them something else, the Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor. I told them it was used by the military base here in Japan, so it is an authentic U.S. specification vehicle.
