My card pull today was the Queen of Wands. When you pull the queen of wands it can be a representation of an adult woman in your life. A vibrant and passionate individual who is a natural leader and is constantly comming up with new ideas and who boldly embraces her creativity without fear. She leads with her heart and uplifts those around her inspiring them with her liveley spirit. Alternatively if it is not representing an actual person in your life it could be telling you to lean into your creativity more. Persue your passions and moove through your life with gusto. Be bold, and firery put a bit more confidence in your desicions. Maybe theres a project youve been working on or procrastinating on, or maybe your holding yourself back from a creative endeavor for the sake of propriety. This card could be telling you to go all in, be bold and jump into what gives you joy. Which immediately got me to thinking about Pamela Coleman Smith british artist, ocultist and the artist behind the Rider-Waite tarot deck. Her story is inspiring and tragic all at once. She was an eccentric and an artist with a particular interest in theater. She threw herself into her life with passion and joy collecting friends and aquantances. She was one of the first ever female members of the Golden Dawn and was later hired by Edward Waite to do the artwork for a tarot deck. She designed all 78 cards over a few years drawing inspiration from her love of theater and the teachings of the golden dawn. She finished her deck a few days before the minimum pay laws came into effect having been paid a one time fee a fraction of what the minimum pay she would have been awarded had she of finished a few days latter. Her name was subsequently dropped from the deck while Waite claimed credit for the design and art and made a small fortune. To this day her art is used for one of the most popular and massed produced decks we all know. Traces of Pamela can be found in her cards as a signature she snuck in despite her name beeing mostly forgoten to history. Dark Wood Tarot by Sasha Graham @sashatarotdiva , artwork by Abigail Larson @abigail_larson , published by Llewellyn @llewellynbooks 🖤 This fantasy tarot brings together the wonderful storytelling of Sasha Graham with Abigail Larson's fantastic artwork. I originally picked up the mini version of this deck, but quickly fell in love with the artwork and I knew I needed the full-sized version. (Of course, I still appreciate having the mini deck to travel with 😁) As well as having larger card images to work with, the kit also comes with a 304 page, full colour guidebook. This guidebook isn't just for card definitions, it's a travel guide for navigating the Dark Wood, and an invitation to acknowledge your shadow self. Never heard of the term "shadow self"? Don't worry, this guidebook provides an explanation to get you started. Reversal interpretations in this deck are referred to as shadow meanings, but as I don't read reversals I've been reading both meaning and shadow when I've been interpreting my card pulls. There are also some simple, but effective, spreads in the guidebook which I've really enjoyed using. For me, this has been a great deck for shadow work so far, and it's already helped me deal with some personal stuff. I think it would be fantastic for creative writing too, I've been making up stories in my head when pulling various combinations of cards (not doing readings, just playing with the deck), but I should really should get them down on paper. Deck: Dark Wood Tarot Biztos vagyok benne, hogy ezt a paklit nem kell bemutatni senkinek. Évek óta elérhető a piacon, két nagy név - Sasha Graham és Abigail Larson - közös gyermeke, gyönyörű, izgalmas, fantasy és ráadásul van hozzá egy vaskos könyv is. Az én polcomra is még jócskán az előtt került fel, hogy elkezdtem ezt a profilt, ezért nem volt még dedikált poszt róla. Ebben a hónapban azonban ez az egyik olyan pakli, amivel dolgozom, és úgy érzem megérett az idő a reviewra xD A pakli árnyékmunkára lett kitalálva, és nagyon sokáig csak ilyesmire használtam. Ritkán vettem elő, olyankor, amikor mélyebben bele akartam nyúlni a lelkembe. A koncepció szerint az Árnyék Boszorkány útját követjük a sötét erdőben, ami a pszichénket jelképezi. De most így, egy hónap után azt tudom mondani, hogy a pakli a napi jóslásra is ugyanolyan pontos válaszokat ad :) A könyv közel 300 oldalas, és nagyon részletes. Kicsit talán túl részletes is. A koncepció miatt abszolút megéri, és nagyon működik is, csak a körítés hosszadalmas. (Ezzel a Tarot of the Witch's Garden-nél is problémám van, az is Sasha Graham pakli. Mindkettő szuper, csak a leírás picit terjengős.) Az art viszont fenomenális, Abigail Larson munkái mindig gyönyörűek, de itt csodálatosan összeér a pakli sötét témája, és az illusztrátor gótikus stílusa. A pakli minőségét mindig nehezen ítélem meg, szerintem ez ízlés kérdése. A lapok közepesen vékonyak, de nagyon hajlékonyak és fényesek. Szinte műanyag tapintasuk van. Könnyű őket keverni, jól csúsznak egymáson. Évek óta megvan a kártya és alig látszik rajta a használat. Bár az is igaz, hogy igyekszem kímélni a paklijaimat :) Akár első paklinak is jó lehet, ha valaki úgy érzi, vonzza a rajzolás és a mondanivaló. Meglepően pontos üzeneteket ad nem csak shadow workhöz, hanem igazából bármihez. Használtam napi jósláshoz, pénzügyekhez, nagyobb életút spreadhez, és könnyen értelmezhetően, egyenesen kommunikál.
