HELP YOUR CHILD TO LEARN Grown ups making BOX HOUSES at Hannah More Primary School this morning. We looked at the book The House of Happy Spirits, a children’s story inspired by the artwork of Hundertwasser. We used some white card boxes I found @scrapstorebrist and decorated them with paint sticks, oil pastels and collage. It was fun painting a 3D shape for a change! The houses looked great lined up together - I’ll share a little video to my stories. These Box Houses would be great for imaginative play - children can decorate all four sides for endless variations - creating a colourful town as a setting for toy cars, animals and dolls. We’re looking at a different material or technique each week and use it as a starting point for individual creativity. And there’s always music, snacks, chatter and laughter. We looked at the book Amazing Mums by @sparklygabs & @hannahkbroadway and made some beautiful windows to make the most of the sunshine. We used dot markers and paintsticks on tissue paper before cutting out shapes and glueing on to a wax paper base. We made a trunk that could stand up by itself (and figured out some cardboard ‘brackets’ did the trick to help it stay that way) and added branches before filling our trees with all kinds of colour. WORLD BOOK DAY ART CLUBS I spent today in my local infants’ school getting creative with nearly 180 kids! TIN FOIL QUILTS After School Clubs are exploring a fab technique this week and so far the results are GORGEOUS. J, Year 3 said they looked like a patchwork quilt so that’s what we’re calling them! I have to say this is the quietest these kids have been at Art Club for a long while!
