And I can’t wait to see the new legends inducted into the disney hall of fame tomorrow!
29 years ago the original Fantasmic! premiered at Disneyland on May 13, 1992. It was the most technically advanced show ever produced at the park at that time. The story features Mickey Mouse and his imagination in an epic battle of good versus evil. In 25 minutes you see pyrotechnics, classic animation, lasers, water effects, fire, live characters, stunts, boats, and water screens 30 feet tall and 50 feet wide. The original Disneyland version closed on January 11, 2016 during the construction of Galaxy's Edge. It reopened July 17, 2017 with updated technology and new scenes. This is one of my favorite shows at Disneyland and I was so happy to see it during the park’s 50th anniversary celebration. My home video is from 2005 so this is before HD projectors, the updated dragon (2009), and the Jack Sparrow pirate ship (2017). This is old school, dragon head on a cherry picker, Fantasmic! Let's take a look at who was able to make it to the Disney Legends Ceremony! First up is Barnette Ricci. She started her career with the Walt Disney Company as a choreographer at Disneyland. She's choreographed and directed many parades, including Christmas parades, America on Parade, and the Main Street Electrical Parade. She's also worked on many stage shows such as the Golden Horseshoe Revue. Perhaps her biggest project to date is the creation of Fantasmic! Barnette was so happy and excited to be at the Disney Legends Ceremony being inducted as a Disney Legend.
