Grubier is on the market since around 20 years. But it keeps staying low, as it’s very hard to find information about them, and as they say on their website « You will find very little info about us ». Yes. Funny to see how today’s car are infinitely boring compared to what we had in the seventies. Even though Mercedes still offers the V12 as a standard on the Maybach S680, but as a twin turbo version. The remaining S-Classes are 95% sold with the inline-six, 3.0L. Back in the sixties, Mercedes unveiled the 300 SEL 6.3, as a mega-high standard of the Mercedes range, with the engine of the Mercedes 600. Nothing could beat the 300 SEL 6.3, not even a Porsche. It’s based on that recipe that Mercedes did exactly the same thing in the seventies with this : the 450 SEL 6.9. It was unveiled in 1973, exactly at the same time as the oil crisis. What a bad timing. Proof : Mercedes never produced such a big engine until the modified version of the V12 from 6.0 to 7.0 by AMG, twenty years later. Weistec 😏 An upgraded intake system increases the amount of airflow available to your engine while still properly filtering out debris or particles from the road. In vehicles that have the M177 LS2 with twin turbochargers, higher airflow helps allow the engine to make more power. This is most apparent in vehicles running higher boost levels such as those that are tuned or have upgraded turbochargers. The stock airboxes, even with high-flow filters, show their limitations, especially with upgraded turbos. Proper airboxes help ensure that the majority of intake air comes from outside the engine bay where the air is cooler. Overly hot air going into your engine can increase the likelihood of knock or detonation.
