We are thrilled to present William Gullette, MA in Graphics from San Diego State University and BA in Painting from San Diego State University. Gullette, a Professor Emeritus at Palomar College in San Marcos, CA, where he taught for over 24 years, is one of the exceptional local artists selected to participate in our inaugural exhibition ‘room in a room in a room’ from June 6 to July 14, 2024. His “Narcissus”, archival pigment print, 16” x 20”, edition of 1, in an image of a youth crouched at the edge of a stream peering into the waters eddy. Photographed with infrared film it has a dreamlike softness that suggests an innocence and freedom that unfortunately usually fades away as the years go by. Whether or not he is admiring his own reflection, as the title suggests, is left to the viewer’s interpretation. He could also be searching for tadpoles or crawdads as many of us did when we were young explorers in the natural world. Join us and see this amazing work in person! Some kind of タンポポには、何かしらの思い出が浮かぶ。　ひとつは、子どもの頃に町に来た、テント張りの会場の「国際プロレス」。後のアンドレ・ザ・ジャイアントのモンスター・ロシモフ。ヒールの名レスラー、ミスター珍（後年、人工透析治療を受けながら、レスラーを続けた人）、ストロング・小林……凄いメンバーでの興行。　中でも、サンダー杉山のオフタイム。野原で子どもたちと遊び、子どもが作った、タンポポの冠を被っていた。その笑顔と言ったら、わたしは、今でも思い出す。１９６４年の東京五輪にアマレスで出た人で、ブリッジが綺麗で、ジャーマン・スープレックス・ホールドなど、断然芸術的。決め技が、見た人の脳内でフィードバックするスロー再生したように放つレスラーだった。　もう一つ　わたしが通っていた小学校は、線路の側。その線路に、タンポポを敷いて、列車を止めた子どもたちがいた。中には、同級生もいました。かなり大きな問題になり、全校的にきつく叱られ、咎められた。　わたしの家は、国鉄職員の家なので、普段からそうした、線路で遊ぶことは、注意されていました。とても怖しいコトなのは、身体に染みていた。また、莫大な損害賠償請求など、「列車なんか止めたり、壊したら孫子の代まで、請求される」と、言いきかされていた。　ただ、わたしは、どうしたら列車を止めてしまうのか？興味があり、当事者に「どんなことをしたの？」と尋ねた。　すると、タンポポをごっそり運んで、線路を覆ったというのだ。それも、大量に、タンポポで首飾りを作って並べたのだそうだ。 tampopo／Dandelion #dandelion #タンポポ #bluesky💙 #bluesky #青空 #skyphotography 風景 landscape #landscapephotography #風景写真 #flowerphotography #flowerportrait #flower_aj nature #nature_aj #naturephotograpy #natureperfection #natureperfect #naturelover 自然愛好家印象派 impressionism #impressionismphotography #imagephotography #artworkphotography #photographylife #lightandshadowphotography #zonephotographer #zonephotography #fashionimage yellow #blue #yellowblue #loveandpeace❤️✌️ #loveandpeace #北海道の初夏　 #column_jun

休みの日は、雨降りの朝だった。わたしの住居の近くに山がある。夕方になると、キツネが降りてきてパトロールをしている。あの者は、もう何年も、山から来ているみたいだ。キツネどころか、去年は、クマが川伝いに降りて来て、付近の病院の駐車場に出没した。そのくらい、札幌は、大きな都市なのに、山に近い。　車で、少し行くと、動物園でその上は、深い山だ。近いのに、今までさして用もなくて、滅多に行く機会がない。だが、渓流があり、雨に透ける花がありそうで、探してみたかった。近いし、手頃な気がした。　また、午後から歯科の治療を予約していた。それが、「麻酔をしてから、虫歯を削り神経を抜きますから」と、ドクターから言われていた。麻酔をして、虫歯をどうにかしてからだと、山歩きなど無理に決まっている。　　治療が必要な歯は、６本あって、一ケ月前に、３本が終わった。終わったところで、休火山のごとくおとなしくしていた虫歯が痛みだした。順送りである。その通院前、歯科医院前の道グリーンベルトに造られた花壇で、スズランが絨毯のように咲いていた。 #column_jun #スズラン #lilyofthevalley #flowerphotography #flowerportrait #flower_aj #nature #nature_aj #naturephotograpy #natureperfection #natureperfect #naturelover #自然愛好家 #印象派 impressionism #impressionismphotography #imagephotography #artworkphotography #photographylife #lightandshadowphotography #zonephotographer #zonephotography #fashionimage #北海道の初夏

⬜️⬜️ スズランに白い夜の夢をみる … もう初夏のサインのスズランが咲き夜明けも随分と早い。三時過ぎると白んでくる。子どもの時は、これはどこでもそうだろうくらいに認識していた。　ところが、南国の人は、「北海道の夏は、朝の3時過ぎから明るくなってきて驚きました」などと聞き、こちらも驚いたものだ。「他は違うの？」もっと北へいくと、本当の白夜になるンでしょう。言葉の魔術で、実にロマンティックで、幻想的。ベルイマンや、北欧作家の映画で本場の白夜を観た。夕方がずっと一晩続くわけだが、そうなると、一晩中、眠らないで鳴いている鳥とかいそうだ。もっとも、ホトトギスなんか漆黒の時間帯もずっと鳴いている。 #俳句 #俳句写真 #雑俳歌落書 #column_jun #スズラン #lilyofthevalley #flowerphotography #flowerportrait #flower_aj #nature #nature_aj #naturephotograpy #natureperfection #natureperfect #naturelover #自然愛好家 #印象派 impressionism #impressionismphotography #imagephotography #artworkphotography #photographylife #lightandshadowphotography #zonephotographer #zonephotography #fashionimage #北海道の初夏　 #group6x6

A photographer of national and international reputation living and working in San Diego, House has been a professor of art and photography at Grossmont College for the last 30 years, where she has also served as Art Department chair.
