Just finished this epic dress! Needed taking in on the sides, which required unpicking the lace to get to the seam, and then hand stitching it back on again. Tulle train was shortened by approximately 1.5m. All the lace edging had to be unpicked to shorten the train, and then hand sewing back on again. The dramatic central lace motif was removed from end of train and hand sewn back on at the new end of train. New ribbon loops sewn on to replace the damaged elastic button fastenings, padding put into bust and extra net underskirt to create the perfect silhouette. Finally, small ribbon loops attached to lace motifs to help bustle the train for dancing later. An enormous project, and so worth it to make the perfect dress for my client. #dressmaking #alterations #weddingdress

#memademay2024 In more successful projects, this is another thrifted men's shirt altered down to fit. I did more to than cutting off the sleeves: I added a seam to raise the hem band and took in the sides. The only parts I left untouched were the collar/buttonband and the width at the bottom hem. Going seam-by-seam worked better than cutting it apart.
