The IOF committing g*nocide in Palestine, tech companies sponsoring psychological and physical violence beyond my worst nightmares in Congo. I invite you to really feel the grief, devastation, rage, whatever comes up for you. Please continue to protest, continue to post, and most importantly, continue to talk about what you witness and what you feel with the people around you. Remember, some (not all) of those supporting the oppressors have been grossly misinformed and need to see the evidence that all major social media platforms are trying to suppress. We must be consistent. We must love each other enough to keep going and never give up. We must love ourselves enough to bring a better world into existence. She is a poet, writer, radical feminist and an educator. Trask is a professor emeritus in Hawaiian Studies at the University of Hawai’i at Manoa. Her book “From a Native Daughter: Colonialism and Sovereignty in Hawaii” addresses how Hawai’i is as a land under foreign (U.S.) economic and military occupation. 💜 I think about how many times I have lied to myself... Out of procrastination, self sabotage, an unwillingness to believe that I am worthy, and most of all -- out of fear. If I am going to actually “walk the talk” and not continually come up with excuses, then I must embrace the unknown. 🔥 The unknown is on the other side of "I don't know" -- on the other side of action -- and it deserves to be LIVED. 🖤✨As I sat outside last Friday night, gazing up at the sky and grounding into the soil, the firmament seemed more full of stars than usual, even with the city light pollution... ❤️With Mother’s Day just happening, the solar storms, aurora borealis, and the ongoing genocides globally, I found myself desiring some quiet tenderness. The softness of my favorite fluffy blanket. The soothingness of sunlight on me as I take a nap. The tastiness of my favorite comfort food meal, homemade mac-n-cheese with some bacon thrown in. All of these things make me think of my mother, and all that she taught me about being grounded. ❤️She often reminded me to look at any given situation from a new perspective, with different eyes, with a sense of awe and wonder, which helped me to not flare up, like a solar storm. It helped me to see the sometimes missed beauty in what was originally perceived as a “bad” situation. Taking into consideration that sometimes changing things up is the best decision one can make. From that usually comes a more compassionate, nurturing, and receptive me. ❤️May we all recognize when to change it up, and look at the world in awe, as if it is the first time seeing it. Actionables: How was this last week for you? What brings you comfort? Take some time and journal about it. Invite a friend on a walk. Ask them what does it mean to be “grounded”, and how might they get grounded? Take a moment to thank each other for speaking their truth, and for actively listening to one another. Have a “Favorite Comfort Food” potluck! Invite people to make it from scratch.
