Spotify is a genius at its algorithms & I use it to consume music. I’m also grateful that it helps people around the world connect to my music. Just imagine if they paid us fairly! Check out @aristake_ for more on all that. I’m grateful for all the new listeners, streams & followers behind my recent release. My numbers are small, but I’ve seen a 7,300% listener growth in the past 3 months! I’m grateful to @auteurresearch for breaking it all down for me & helping me boost it. I’m stoked that the metric that matters most (what percentage of people who hear your music add it to their personal library) is high for me. It’s assuring because I know that all I have to do is get my music in front of people & they will respond. When you all gave me money for post-production costs so my album could “live bigger & fly higher,” this is what I meant (among other things). I decided a long time ago to put most of my efforts (time, money, energy) into recording & reaching listeners through digital space & radio. I love playing shows but as a mom musician with a day job, the incessant gigging grind isn’t for me. To be honest, I didn't share my wrapped last year because I was embarrassed. I knew my Spotify stats were much lower than a lot of my peers and I worried that people would think I wasn't worth being heard. I was making it about me when, in reality, the whole point of putting my music on streaming platforms is to share it with other people. So this year I'm sharing my stats because each of these numbers represents a whole person with a whole life who took time out of their day to listen to music that I made. That's really cool.
