🔸 Random tarot It was at the 6 of Swords that we came up with this idea. When we started shooting it, in one of the shots the boy accidentally turned around and it turned out to be a very interesting card. Waite didn't have this originally, but the photo came out so touching and with extra meaning that we decided to make an additional deck with random cards later! At least two we already had) It was like the boy didn't want to leave, it was like he was forced to. There was so much sadness and longing in his gaze that the card started to be perceived in a completely different way. But I know the secret! 8 of Swords Card #13 — 06/18/24 #historyofonecard #eightofswords The 8 of Swords is a card about the cage we have in our head. The swords, are our negative thoughts that created it. Our fears, patterns, limitations. And the most important thing in this card is to realize that the cage is not real, because if you look closer, the girl's hands are not bound with ropes, and you can pass between the swords. But she doesn't want to see it, because it's more familiar. And if you remove all these internal restrictions, it immediately becomes clear that there is no cage and we are completely free. We shot this card on the coast of Svetlogorsk. In the picture is Nastya, the one who was on the 2 of Swords. The costume is all hers, from Kaup. The swords were custom forged for us out of iron by Merlin. For some reason we took 10 swords (with reserve) and it was a mistake, because they turned out to be very heavy, and it took 30 minutes to go to the chosen place. It was the most difficult thing in this card - it was very hard for everyone 😁😅. We shot at two locations, in the end we chose this one. Here we experimented with colored smoke for the last time, in the end we didn't use it anywhere else. The card turned out to be so emotional and poignant that you can't take your eyes off it. The same Denis from Kaup was taken on the card as on the 9 and 10 of Wands. The costume was also taken from the theater. On the card there were flowers on the field, but our field did not have them. The girls found poppies nearby, picked them up and planted them again on the shooting location. There's no catch here, except for the possibility of overdoing it. 😅 This was a holiday card for us, too. We set a goal for ourselves - if we can keep 10 cards in the same style, we'll finish the deck before the end. And 3 of Cups was exactly that 10 card. We realized that all 10 cards came out not only in the same style, but also incredibly magical, and that was our little 🥳 🍾 This map is almost all of our team at that moment: Me, Julia and Nasie. We looked out for a field near Nasie's house. It was hot, it was hot and sunny 🌞 🍇 We bought fruit with baskets at the market right before the shoot. We had 2 variants of costumes, the first were costumes from Kaupa, all handmade from natural materials. The second set — costumes from the theater, also handmade. We tried them all 😅🤪 And decided the simpler ones were more like a card. The Emperor Card #7 — 09.06.21 #HistoryOfOneCard #TheEmperor The Emperor is a card of masculine energy. The card of stable structure and boundaries. The card of the strong, wise, self-sufficient man. It is the card of power and control. Here the most important thing to realize is that the power that is given to the Emperor is not from man, but from God. He gives him power. And the emperor must forget about himself as a man, remove his ego and rule based on the fact that he is a vicar. He must remove his personal desires, he must see the desires of his subjects, country, empire, and rule based on them. If this does not happen, then a man under the burden of power turns into a tyrant and an autocrat. It's hard to believe, but the Hermit and the Emperor are the same person. Merlin is incredibly photogenic. We took this photo in Amber, at the Amber Castle. Merlin showed it to us (he was the housekeeper there), and we ended up setting up our studio and Labyrinth there. The room had a throne, a hide, candlesticks and a wolf (which we eventually removed). Merlin made the orb and scepter himself, (don't ask what from) and brought real armor and lats that the Emperor has on his legs and arms. Around the Emperor's neck hangs a solid amber pendant with the image of Aries. Which is his sign. It turned out to be very symbolic that we couldn't find a suitable crown and decided to shoot without it. It turned out to be a kind of tribute to our time - now we don't have emperors, we don't have people who are vicars of God, we don't have rulers who rule without Ego. No crown either 👑 During the shoot we had our Jamshut on fire, it was scary because the room was small and we already had a lot of smoke 🔥 But everything was fine! As we wrote on the magnets, "things always go uphill for Sisyphus!" 😂 I hope you know who it is and what it's about. The way of Wands is the way of ambition. It, like the suit of swords, leads nowhere. Because if our motive comes from the Ego, our path may lead us to fame and glory, but never to harmony. We will either always be running after the carrot or we will be squeezed like a lemon but with a crown on our head. Because in the world of competition and business and success, as soon as you stop running, you lose. So all of you who are going down this path, think about what your motivation is. To build, to create, to create, or to gratify your Ego. From this will directly depend on your result. Together with the Nine of Wands we simultaneously took the Ten, because we decided that it would be the same person. Here the task was a little more difficult, because Denis had to really carry 10 sticks. They were not easy and huge in themselves. They were scattered and fell, so it was really hard! I had to tie them up so that I could at least somehow freeze in the end frame. It took a couple hours to carry the sticks 😂 Poor Denis... Very interestingly, a flock of sheep came over during the shoot. And also a doggie came running in as well. We even got a couple of shots with her. 🔸 Rose 🔸 🥀 Amber Rose of three buds, became the symbol of our project. Initially we started looking for it on the jester card. But we couldn't find anything suitable with one bud. When I was studying the Jester's card, not knowing tarot yet, I got the information that the Rose is the soul of the Jester, its purity and freshness. And when I saw this gorgeous amber rose I thought to myself that it was perfect. After all, the three buds symbolize the trinity of the world. 🪙🪙🪙 Pentacles: Crafting the Magic 🪙🪙🪙 Behind the scenes of our creative journey, there was more to prepare for than just the shoot. We had to think about the suits, including the 10 Pentacles that needed to adorn each card. Our solution? Craft them from plaster. We took a pie mold, poured plaster into it, and let our artistic touch bring them to life. Carefully, I traced a pentagram onto each one with a stick, and then we coated each pentacle with a shimmering golden paint. ✨ Of course, they were quite fragile, and we ended up breaking about 5 of them. That’s why we always had a bucket of plaster in the basement, just in case we needed to mix up a new batch in a hurry. 🤪 The process was both challenging and rewarding, but it added a touch of magic to our Tarot cards that we couldn’t have achieved any other way. During the process, you don’t have countless attempts – usually just around 10 shots, and you can’t see the results until you send the film to a lab in Moscow for development. The idea for our project was born, and the adventure commenced! We embarked on a quest for locations, cameras (we had three different versions), film, lenses, and the most crucial element of all—people. One day, a taxi driver shared beneath Konigsberg lies the medieval village of Ushkuy, where folks reenact life from the Middle Ages. That piqued our curiosity, and on May 18, 2021, we set out on a 1.5-hour journey into the heart of absolute wilderness. Upon arrival, Ushkuy truly felt like a portal to the past, and our first encounter was with Oleg, who not only knew the Tarot system but was eager to be our card model. We saw it as a sign! As we scouted the village, we found the perfect stone for the Hermit and a throne fit for the Queen of Wands. 🌟 Remarkably, these talented folks craft everything by hand using medieval tools, sew garments, and prepare meals just as they did in the Middle Ages, without modern appliances. And guess what? Where? 🤔 In April 2021, we embarked on an extraordinary adventure, relocating to the enchanting Konigsberg. By May 15, we were already on the go, exploring every nook and cranny of this captivating region in search of the perfect shooting locations. Denis is a pro in his field and one of the best. But I thought it was impossible, and we probably wouldn’t create anything worthwhile, aside from some quirky costume photos on Halloween 🤪😭🤦♀️ But it was his persistence, inner strength, and belief in himself and the project that helped bring it to life and see it through to the end. As I go through the photos from the shoots, or even just look at their schedule, my hair stands on end. How? And most importantly, Why? But I’ll share more about that in the next post...
✅ How Our Project Idea Was Born One winter evening, while my husband @denis_sea and I were setting up another tarot card spread, we got into a heated argument about the meanings of the cards. We each had our own opinions, and we couldn’t agree on the truth. That’s when I decided that such disputes should no longer happen - I decided to learn tarot reading (I had wanted to close this chapter for a while). I found an amazing teacher, who also happened to be a yoga practitioner and a shaman. @kanysha_tarot And in less than a week, I started learning. I got so engrossed in this world! 🙈 I realized that it’s much more than just fortune-telling; it’s a holistic system, deeper and broader than the average person imagines. We moved to Königsberg. I enthusiastically shared the meaning of all Arcana cards with my husband. And then, one day, it happened.... Denis can’t pinpoint exactly when he decided to start filming tarot. He says it’s somewhat like a dream - you don’t remember when or how it began 🤪 But one day, we grabbed a mop and a camera and headed to the backyard.
