This happened 10 Years ago! National Award for #Tamaash (The Puppet), our first short film in Kashmiri. Cheers to team Tamaash & to everyone who helped us make the film, a BIG Thank you to all of you. Trivia: Short Film Long Story It was 2012. Short films didn't have a market or a platform then. 'Tamaash' was sort of a diploma film to convince producers that we could direct our first screenplay #ChintuKaBirthday that was lying with us for 5 years. Mentors like @motwayne pushed us to direct and learn from our mistakes. Dozens of friends turned producers, a college friend, native of Kashmir turned EP. Media students from Srinagar helped us translate the script. Actors helped us cast other actors. Child actors were acting in Kashmiri, a language we didn't understand. Many advised us against making Tamaash. We saw hurdles, learnings, mistakes & more mistakes, love, doubts, sweat & tears. With an extremely sincere crew & incredible hospitality from the people of Kashmir, we shot the film. Saty Sir had meticulously planned every step & we went ahead. During the post production, we turned editors for the film & took feedback from our seniors. The post prod took months & we had a short film we could proudly embrace with all its flaws. I saw the film 3 days ago. It looks dated, yes. It was shot 12 years ago with near zero resources. Just like your first poem or painting, it shows your limitations as an artist but that first step is very important. Tamaash travelled to numerous festivals winning multiple awards across the globe. Mom got a chance to meet and greet Gulzar Saab. :) We met the amazing @bishwadeepchatterjee & pitched #ChintuKaBirthday to him which he later designed sound for. I got introduced into the world of advertising thanks to @bauddhayan sir & @monalisa0827 Di.
