. 🚀 Latest News! 🚀 UK Economy Rebounds Strongly in First Quarter, Ends ‘Technical Recession’ The British economy rebounded strongly in the first quarter of the year, marking an end to what economists termed a “technical recession,” Associated Press reports. Official figures from the Office for National Statistics showed a growth of 0.6% in the first quarter, surpassing economists’ expectations of 0.4%. The uptick in economic activity comes after two quarters of modest declines, meeting the technical definition of a recession in the UK. The expansion was broad-based, with the crucial services sector showing notable strength. This growth was the strongest since the fourth quarter of 2021, when the economy was recovering from the severe contraction caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite this quarterly increase, the British economy has experienced minimal growth over the past year. High-interest rates, which reached 16-year highs of 5.25%, have been a significant factor hindering growth. However, there is hope that interest rates may soon decrease. Bank of England Governor Andrew Bailey suggested that a rate cut might be considered in June if inflation continues to trend downwards. Japan has slipped into a recession, as its gross domestic product (GDP) shrank for two consecutive quarters, which is the typical definition of a technical recession. The economy contracted by an annualized 0.4% in the October-December period of 2023, following a 3.3% slump in the previous quarter. This recession has led to Japan losing its position as the world's third-largest economy to Germany. The recession is attributed to weak domestic demand, particularly in private consumption and capital expenditure. Despite the recession, Japan's stock market has remained buoyant, with the Nikkei 225 advancing #JapanRecession #JapaneseEconomy #TechnicalRecession #PrivateConsumption #CapitalExpenditure #Nikkei225

Who are your most valuable audiences? 💘 The eurozone entered officially into a technical recession, shrinking by 0.1 percent for a second consecutive quarter, figures from the EU's statistic agency showed. The tightening monetary policy of the European Central Bank (ECB) to combat high inflation is putting pressure on the economic growth of the eurozone. As a result of the interest rate hikes, households and businesses must put more money on the table to pay off their debts, which therefore reduces investment and consumer spending. 💶 Perfect timing to look at our GroupM Recession Monitor and zoom in on the financial situation of the Belgians. Recession Strikes Germany: Economy on Thin Ice Germany, the economic powerhouse of Europe, is in a technical recession. Q1 of 2023 saw the German economy shrink by 0.3%, following a 0.5% contraction in Q4 of 2022, signalling a classic technical recession. The slump can be traced back to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, which helped push energy prices sky-high, burdening both households and businesses. Inflation figures for April came in at a whopping 7.2%. And the outlook for the second quarter of 2023 appears bleak. Even though the recession hasn't hit as hard as initially feared, there will still be challenges to overcome. These include a drop in purchasing power, depleted industrial order inventories, aggressive monetary policy, a probable downturn in the US economy, and the continued conflict in Ukraine. What we're seeing in Germany is likely just the tip of the iceberg. It is the proverbial canary in the coal mine signalling a possible wave of economic downturns sweeping across Europe. It's a reminder that even the strongest economies can falter under persistent strain. This situation should serve as an urgent call to action for European policymakers to prepare for potentially challenging times ahead. Singapore’s Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) slipped 0.1 point to 49.9 in September, shrinking for the first time after 26 straight months of expansion, the Singapore Institute of Purchasing and Materials Management (SIPMM) said on Monday (Oct 3). A reading above 50 indicates growth from the previous month; one below 50 means contraction. Likewise, the lynchpin electronics sector dipped 0.2 point to 49.4 in September, contracting for the second straight month. It was weighed down by sharper contraction in the key indexes of new orders; new exports; and factory output, as well as a decline in the employment index after 22 months of continuous expansion. “Global markets are still grappling with the macroeconomic risks of high inflation and qualitative tightening, as well as the geopolitical uncertainties of the continuing Russo-Ukrainian war,” said Sophia Poh, SPIMM’s industry engagement and development vice-president. The deflating global electronics momentum may continue to weigh on domestic manufacturing growth prospects in the coming months, despite the traditional run-up to peak Christmas order season, added OCBC chief economist Selena Ling. Boa tarde! Technical Recession in the United States is not openly accepted but in the FY22-23’s first quarter, US faced a contraction of 1.6% and the GDP dropped by 0.9% in the second quarter too. The US officials and economists have not admitted yet that there is a technical recession in the country, rather they are justifying it by using terms such as "Weakening Economy" or "Slow Growth". The President himself is in denial to accept that the country's economy is contracting. Although there is data which shows that jobs are being added, the citizens of America are worried regarding the decline in job security and rising inflation. They may not overtly acknowledge the recession but the economy is surely witnessing a downfall. Swipe right to read more. Boa noite! Obrigado! #officialrecession #technicalrecession #twoconsecutivenegativequarters #economics #invertedyieldcurve #yield #yieldcurve #longterm #shortterm #federalreserve #investors #investment #money

India’s economy contracted 7.3 per cent in 2020-21, official data showed Monday, its worst recession since independence as coronavirus lockdowns put millions out of work. Asia’s third-largest economy grew by 1.6 per cent between January and March — the fourth fiscal quarter — after exiting its first “technical recession” since 1947 following two successive quarters of contraction. About 230 million Indians fell into poverty due to the pandemic last year, according to a study by Bangalore’s Azim Premji University, which defined the poor as those living on less than 375 rupees ($5) a day. The finance ministry on 26th February 2021 stated that the Indian economy emerged from the technical recession of the first two negative growth quarters, clocking a positive gross domestic product (GDP) growth figure of 0.4% in the third quarter with improvement in manufacturing, construction, agriculture, real estate, and professional services. The Indian economy emerged out of technical recession in October-December 2020 and increases 0.4 per cent with improvement in manufacturing, construction and agriculture. According to the second advance estimates released by the National Statistical Office on Friday, the economy will, however, face a deeper 8 per cent contraction for the complete year 2020-21, as against the sooner estimate of seven .7 per cent. NSO’s second advance estimates are obtained by extrapolating indicators just like the Index of commercial Production (IIP) of the primary nine months of the fiscal year . The estimates were likely to undergo “sharp revisions” since data collection for IIP and CPI were impacted thanks to restrictions imposed in March last year in sight of the pandemic. In a statement, the Finance Ministry said the Q3 numbers were a mirrored image of the further strengthening of a V-shaped recovery, but warned that India wasn’t yet out of the danger of the pandemic. 📖: Read more at the link in the bio. #newshots2021 #news #newsupdates #latestnews #india #economy #recession #gdp #increase #bjp #manufacturing #construction #agriculture #improvement #technicalrecession #techtrends #finance

India has officially entered recession with negative growth in two successive quarters. But with “better than expected” GDP growth, various segments of the market believe that India is on a sharp recovery mode. However, there are various reasons that make these projections extremely complicated. Follow @inevitable_facts for more updates. Two weeks after a team of #ReserveBankofIndia ( #RBI) #economists said India is in a technical #recession, #GrossDomesticProduct ( #GDP) data released on Friday officially confirmed the same. The GDP contracted 7.5 per cent in the July-September quarter of 2020-21. The official GDP data released for the second quarter (Q2) today by #NationalStatisticalOffice ( #NSO) showed that the #Indianeconomy has contracted in two consecutive quarters -- called #technicalrecession -- for the first time since 1996, when the country began recording quarterly growth rates. The GDP at constant (2011-12) prices in Q2FY21 has been estimated at Rs 33.14 lakh crore, as against Rs 35.84 lakh crore in Q2 of 2019-20, showing a contraction of 7.5 per cent, according to the #official NSO data. "Quarterly GVA at #BasicPrices at Constant (2011-12) #Prices for Q2 of 2020-21 is estimated at Rs 30.49 lakh crore, as against Rs 32.78 #lakhcrore in Q2 of 2019-20, showing a contraction of 7 per cent," it added. Commenting on the Q2 GDP data, Chief Economic Advisor K Subramanian said, "Our economy is doing well. Our economy was doing well before the pandemic hit us. The pandemic hit us in March and that was the reason for Q1 GDP number coming at -23.9 per cent." Commenting on the Q2 GDP data, Sreejith Balasubramanian, Economist - Fund Management, IDFC AMC, said, “India’s Q2 FY21 real GDP contraction of 7.5% y/y was in line with our #forecast and the recent improvement in economic data.” “As expected, #manufacturinggrowth was strong with the y/y number turning positive, alongside agriculture, but services (including public administration in line with the y/y fall in Q2 government spending) and construction growth was still negative,” he added. He, however, said economic data ahead would be crucial to gauge the quantum of ‘froth’ in this Q2 data from pent up, festive and inventory restocking demands and to also throw more light on the #employment and wage situation.

As the economy contracted 7.5% in the July-September 2020 quarter, India entered a ‘technical recession’ for the first time ever. This is bad news, but the fear is that even this contraction doesn’t reflect reality because festival-related spending may be making the situation look better than it is. That pent-up demand, say economists, may be spent and we could see a further contraction in the next quarter. Please listen to the latest episode of the @allindiansmatter podcast. . India slides into first Recession since decades: With the GDP contracting for two consecutive quarters, India has entered recession due to the overarching effects of the pandemic restrictions in 2020, based on data released by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation on Friday. Even though the GDP has rebounded from -23.9% in the first quarter (April-June) to -7.5% in the second quarter (July-September), according to experts, the economy has plunged into “technical recession” for the first time in over a quarter of a century. However, with the improvement in the second quarter, the economy is slowly gaining a better footing. While economists had forecasted the GDP to contract 8.2%, the real GDP contracted at a slower pace than that at 7.5%, which experts see as optimistic. #TheColourboard #Economy #Recession #GDP #Pandemic #Economic #TechnicalRecession #IndianEconomy #Manufacturing #Agriculture #Electricity #Construction #PublicAdministration #Finance #Production #Market #RealGDP #Pandemic #Lockdown #IndiaLockdown #India

India’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) contracted by 7.5 per cent for July-September quarter (Q2) after an unexpected decline of 23.9 per cent in the April-June quarter. The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) released provisional estimates on Friday. On a related note, in the corresponding quarter of 2019-20, GDP expanded by 5.2 per cent. As a result, for the first time in the history of India, the country's economy entered into a technical recession. For the unversed, when the growth rate of GDP goes negative for two consecutive quarters or more, it is called recession. The worst contraction in the history of Indian economy happened during the April-June quarter. The GDP contracted by 23.9 per cent due to nationwide lockdown in the wake of pandemic. Now, as the government has eased several restrictions across the nation, the economy is gradually coming back on the track. Cautioning about the “sustainability of demand”, Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor Shaktikanta Das said on Thursday the economy showed stronger-than-expected pick-up in the momentum of recovery. Interestingly, RBI said that GDP for Q2 was set for 8.6 per cent of contraction. However, it emphasised that the economy would exhibit a positive growth in the October-December quarter of 2020-21. As per MoSPI data, manufacturing industry saw a rise of 0.6 per cent in the Q2. Similarly, the electricity, gas, water supply and other such utility services also saw a growth of 4.4 per cent. Agriculture, forestry and fishing industry witnessed a growth at a constant pace of 3.4 per cent. At the same time, trade, hotels, transport, communication and broadcasting services contracted by 15.6 per cent in September quarter. The construction industry also contracted by 8.6 per cent. . . . . #india #gdp #grossdomesticproduct #recession #technicalrecession #reservebankofindia #rbi #nirmalasitharaman #ootkalnews #ootkal
