One of the most dynamic landscapes I’ve ever seen in person, and one of the best views in all of Southern California - Fonts Point in Borrego Springs. Millions of years of erosion and dry wash visible over almost 360°, and tons of interesting texture and natural pathways. I’d strongly recommend getting there a couple hours before dusk so you can watch the badlands explode with color as the sun sets over Hot Springs Mountain. 4WD strongly recommended, but it’s so worth the trek up there. Just don’t fall !

Fonts Point at dusk. Even though this is quite a wide panorama, it only covered about 1/3 of the badlands visible from the viewpoint. Probably 270° of the view is taken up by this sea of textured dry wash. I could’ve stayed up there for hours shooting every bit of it.

Excited to unveil the final piece of my San Diego-inspired series: “Guardian of the Shores - Lifeguard Tower 5C.” Inspired by a captivating article in San Diego Magazine (@sandiegomag ), this painting captures the essence of the iconic Lifeguard Tower 5C standing tall on the pristine shores of Coronado Beach. For over 80 years, this tower has been a beacon of safety and a symbol of hope, overlooking the vast expanse of the Pacific Ocean. The “C” proudly represents Coronado, distinguishing it from its counterparts along the Silver Strand. It’s incredible to think about the countless lives this tower has safeguarded over the decades. But change is on the horizon! With the addition of a seventh tower to Central Beach, our beloved 5C will soon become 6C, marking a new chapter in the history of lifeguarding in Coronado. Yesterday, I had the chance to get on the ship that came from Acapulco and came to San Diego. On Friday, My parents went and got on the ship.
