Day 4 and 5 of Salkantay Trek, all I can say is breathtaking, and I don’t mean the elevation. We could see Machu Picchu in the distance on day 4, and looking from Machu Picchu to that same spot we were only the day before gave such a sense of accomplishment. Day 3: slightly less scenic as we walked along the road but a well needed recovery day! Once we got to the campsite it was all about the coffee...it's all handpicked and makes you realise just why coffee costs what it does! We got to pick and roast some coffee the traditional way and what followed was the best coffee I've ever had! After tea our chefs made us a cake to wish us safe travels. Day 2: reaching the highest point of the Salkantay Trek at the Salkantay Pass! 4600m above sea level is the highest I've ever been and I could definitely tell! This was the most mentally challenging thing I've ever done....trying to push through when your body really doesn't want to. 📍 MACHU freaking PICCHU trekking 50 miles across 4 days, walking over 100k steps, over 3700m of ascent and reaching altitudes of 4600m and I reached one of the seven wonders of the modern world. the toughest challenge I’ve taken on to date and it took all my inner strength and determination to keep pushing on and I’m so proud of myself 🫶🏻 If you didn’t see my last reel, when we first got here it was a white-out and we waited 2hrs and 10 mins for these views - just as we admitted defeat and got up to leave it cleared 🥹 As a whole the place was very overwhelming with sooo many people so didn’t want to spend long there but I guess that’s kinda expected for somewhere so famous… Now I just wanna get home but have 4 days to hang around in a hotel room in Cusco till my flight 🫠😅 . . . #machupicchu #machupichu #machupicchuperu #salkantay #salkantaytrek #thruhike #backpackinglife #girlswhohike #hikinglovers #wondersoftheworld #peruadventure

Whose idea was this again ? 🤷🏽♀️ At times during our 5 day Salkantay trek we did question why we thought this was a good idea… it wasn’t as glamorous as we had initially thought it would be. But that being said, WE HAD A GREAT TIME! 😬 Ups and downs, smiles and frowns, but we persevered through the mud, rain and blisters, to reach the end. The views were fantastic and well worth all our effort. It was such a rewarding week. There was no better feeling than taking off our hiking boots 🥾 after a hard days walk. We were spoilt by the quality and amount of food we received every night. Salkantay part DOS: (15.000 feet elevation, 4600m) the first day of the hike is really really hard. The altitude, the steepness, hot and cold, but for me the hardest was the altitude. Climbing up I had to stop every 10-20 steps. It was HARD but worth every second of it (8th picture is our porters, those guys are who puts up the whole show together, gracias ) #salkantaytrek #peru🇵🇪

Salkantay track part UNO: took off from Cusco around 2:30pm. 3 hours later arrived by bus to a first camp “GLASS CABANAS”. Had a nice dinner with the hiking group and went to our cabanas to watch the stars before sleep 💤 The next morning we hiked to the glacier lake, which was very beautiful #salkantaytrek #peru #cusco #hiking
