Resting Grey Seal - Kitchen Litho on Japanese paper. Inspired by the Puffin Island Grey Seals. Revisiting Kitchen Litho & exploring the differences between this & Lithino. Also good to be doing a bit of hand burnishing again, having that direct contact with the paper & the flexibility of being able to alter printing pressure across the plate. I love the possibilities of tusche washes that Lithino creates & find drawing with lithographic crayons on lino tactilely compelling. It’s a very different sensation drawing on aluminium foil, but there is a real feeling of freedom in making gestural marks across the smooth surface. I can create & print a kitchen litho plate in one day, which I love. Last week marked the launch of our brand new pre-school printing and story sessions, ‘Dinky Inkers’, which will run every Thursdays 11am - 12.15pm at our brand new site in Huddersfield. Join us weekly with your little people to come and have some inky fun, each week will focus on inky activities based on a children’s book, exploring printing fun, at the end of the session you can stay for story time. Our first session we explored The Three Little Pigs and used various materials including straw to print with. Grey Seal Haul-Out, Ynys Seiriol 1 & 2 - Collagraph, Monoprint & Chine Collé. Based on drawings of the Puffin Island grey seals. Combining monoprints on Japanese Kozo light-weight paper with collagraph plates @bainbridgeprint.
