34 years ago a young lady was born with the umbilical cord around her neck, not breathing and her head already blue. Her parents thought she wouldn't make it but god had other plans. Great start into life. She started breathing and shortly after the screaming followed. Today she sometimes seems to not have it all together and also can't shut up at times... But you know what. I love her. Maybe that's why she just never gives up when times are hard. And that's why I will never give up on her. She deserves to be treated well. She deserves it all. It took me 33 years to realize a lot that I wasn't aware of before. Grateful for it all. On a side note: Today is the "luckiest" fullmoon of the year! Fullmoon in Sagittarius. What a coincedence... I started my charity MAN UP, after going through my own struggles with mental health in 2017. I didn’t realize just how trapped I was in the box of toxic masculinity, but found myself engaging in some very harmful habits such as binge drinking and self-harm, and getting myself into many unhealthy situations. It wasn’t until I hit rock bottom in the end of 2017, after a break up, a self-harm incident that landed me in hospital, and the thoughts of suicide - that I was forced into a moment of change. Either step up and grow, or let my life slip away from me. I chose the first option, and from there made a promise to work on my own mental health, and use what I’ve learnt to help others. MAN UP is all about men’s mental health and redefining what it means to be a healthy man - so wellness (both emotional and physical) is what I’m passionate about I began my fitness journey after a difficult year mentally. I was in a dark place, but then a friend showed me the gym. I got hooked, fell in love with working on myself, and now I see the gym as a dojo for my body and my mind. It provides me with a safe space to work on myself, whilst fostering a healthy relationship to my body. 𝗠𝘆 𝘁𝗼𝗽 𝘁𝗶𝗽𝘀 for anyone who is on their health & fitness journey is to take a long-term approach. What inspires me as an artist? I sometimes talk about my Mum's garden in the comments, and was asked to show some photos. Having a beautiful garden means you have a wonderful place to enjoy and rejuvenate. This garden is where I first developed my love of nature. There are multiple fish ponds, one has recently delighted me with a tadpoles-to-frogs experience. Animals choose to be in her garden - many varieties of birds (magpies, crows, pink and grey galahs, white cockatoos, willy wagtails, doves), bobtail lizards, geckos, tadpoles, frogs, butterflies, bees, dragonflies, and more. She even hand-feeds the local magpies every day. And there are plenty of edibles growing in amongst the colourful flowers. And my Dad designed and built the wishing well (which is also a fish pond). There is much time spent hunting through the foliage to find frogs. I love frog-spotting! Here are some photos from her beautiful garden.
