What we ordered •Papas •Baja Mushroom •Cacklebean Egg, Oyster Mushroom & Mole I love Mexican food so I was really excited for this one and it didn’t disappoint. This is a more pricey restaurant for sure and the portions are fairly small but the food is delicious. I honestly would order every one of those dishes again and the black garlic sauce they gave with the Papas was amazing. Everything we tried felt quite unique to what usually you usually get in Mexican restaurants, this is probably because the restaurant is influenced by the hundreds of roadside taquerias and restaurants within America and Mexico. 🍜 VEGANUARY SPECIAL REVIEW - @clubmexicana x @tonkotsu.ramenbar Birria Ramen 🌱 Day 15 of posting every day for Veganuary ✨ If there are two things I love it’s Ramen and Club Mexicana, so when I found out about their collab with Tonkotsu to launch a Vegan “Beef Brisket” Birria Ramen I was so in. The broth is a konbu & shiitake broth and birria base. I am obsessed with Club Mexicana’s Birria Tacos. Every time I have them I wish I could just drink their birria sauce. And now I could, and it was honestly so good! You’d think that it would maybe not work with the ramen broth but it absolutely does! Of course the “beef brisket” was also incredible, as you’d expect from a Club Mexicana vegan protein. And the onion salsa and radish pickles just further help bring everything together into a successful fusion dish. The tortilla chips did not add much other than contributing towards the Mexican Ramen look, but they also did not take anything away from the rest of the dish. It was my first time trying birria ramen. And at least the way Tonkotsu and Club Mexicana did it, this unlikely combination of cuisines really works. It feels like more than a novelty food. It could definitely stand on its own in the Tonkotsu menu. I would definitely order it again! As part of their collab they also have a Japanese-inspired Chelada, which I had with Kirin Lager, lime juice and a shichimi rim. It was honestly so refreshing! I strongly recommend you try it, even with any of the other ramen bowls. I’m not sure, but I believe this collab is a Veganuary-only special, meaning there’s only two weeks left to try it before it potentially comes off the menu, and I would definitely advise you to do so!

recently visited @cavita.restaurante in Marylebone - a traditional Mexican restaurant with pretty interiors (which I forgot to take a photo of… my apologies) we definitely over ordered here, but it was worth it so we could try as many dishes as possible! although the portions are quite small, we recommend sharing everything as there’s a variety of things to go for! dishes we had: + ensalada de tomate - this was very different to your typical tomato salad (i usually imagine an Italian style caprese) however the flavours were nice and it was definitely a refreshing appetiser! + smoked beef shin quesabirria - if you like beef we would highly recommend these tacos especially with the sauce (double dipping has to be allowed) + crab tostada - this was probably my favourite dish despite it coming right at the end when I felt like I couldn’t eat any more… the crab tasted fresh and the flavours were unique + tamal de puerco - so this was quite an interesting dish that seemed like a Mexican-style meatloaf… it was basically pork leg and duck fact steamed in banana leaf with a green guajillo sauce. if you’re a fan of meatloaf and just very meaty stuff in general then you may like this, but I do have to admit it wasn’t for me. it tasted better with the sauce, but I do not think I would order this again + papitas - potatoes covered in two tasty sauces. yum. we also had two margaritas - a spicy one and regular. very very good and very very strong. overall, the food was good (nothing wow I would say apart from the crab tostada) but still worth a try! if I go back I think I would order more of the tacos (soft shell crab, cod, al pastor) the ambience is lovely and perfect for a dinner date night (with a partner or with the girls, I personally would choose the latter) again, this is not very budget-friendly but we promise that we will share some more of those places soon! #mexicanfood #londonmexican #tacosdebirria #spicymargarita #londondinner #londondatenight #marylebone #londonfoodguide

Located just near King's Cross in Coal Drops Yard, we went straight from the train so it's in a very handy location! The crisps and salsas are unlimited here which we definitely took advantage of, as well as ordering a portion of one of the nicest guacamoles we've ever tasted! For mains we ordered 3 lots of tacos between the 2 of us: chicken, prawn and pork. We both agreed that the prawn was the nicest one, but they were all very tasty!
