LCSS provided invaluable support, offering mentorship and a safe space to express my emotions. One day, my caseworker, Nicholas, discovered my interest in music and encouraged me to join a music group at Life Community. Through this opportunity, I began playing the bass guitar in a band. Life Community remains a significant part of my life, akin to family. In December 2022, during the "Love came down at Christmas" event, I brought my three-month pregnant wife to volunteer with me, despite feeling that my contribution was small. We had a meaningful time last Saturday reconnecting with our volunteers and donors over lunch. The event was filled with heartfelt conversations, anecdotes, and speeches. Children from Life Student Care (LSC) and MightyKids, Families & Community (MKFC) joined in the thanksgiving by cheerfully singing, dancing, and playing the ukulele to express their gratitude. It was also an opportunity for us to recognise donors and volunteers who have toiled with us for 5, 10, and 15 years. We are grateful for their commitment to our children and families, and to LCSS's mission. On Saturday, 2 December 2023, we blessed 450 children and families from our various programmes through “Love Came Down @ Christmas”, an annual Christmas carnival that aims to bring love, cheer, and hope. This year’s Carnival was held at @radinmascc , and we are thankful for their partnership. We were honoured to have Ms Tin Pei Ling ( @tinpeiling )(Member of Government Parliamentary Committee for Social & Family Development) grace the event. From bouncy castles, to yummy-licious carnival food and beverages, to games and arts and crafts, the atmosphere was absolutely delightful. The carnival also gave our beneficiaries (both past and current) a platform to serve alongside our community, taking on roles such as photography, doing stage performances, and providing logistical support, among others. A number of our beneficiaries were also presented Good Progress Awards for their academic performance in school. A big shout-out to @mothershipsg for inspiring and encouraging the youths with these cash awards! We are also grateful to LCSS’s many partners and sponsors who came on board to support us through our carnival sponsorship packages. We had a blast celebrating Hari Raya Puasa with our lovely children from Friends2Gather and a community partner from Social Service Office @ Bedok. The little ones learnt about Ramadan and indulged in some delicious traditional Malay food. They also exercised their creative juices - check out their awesome art and craft! This festive season, we celebrate the importance of communities coming together to bring out the best in our children and their families. We celebrate the heavy sacrifices our caregivers have made to provide the best for their children. We celebrate our alumni who have grown up well, and are now positively contributing to society. With thanksgiving and a grateful heart, we celebrate the limitless potential of every child.
🎄 THE MOST WONDERFUL TIME OF THE YEAR 🎄 Last Saturday, 17 Dec, we blessed 400 children and families from our various programmes through "Love Came Down @ Christmas - Life! Alumni Gives Back", a carnival at our MightyKids, Families & Community (MKFC) centre at Blk 32 Telok Blangah Rise. We are honoured to have Minister for Trade and Industry Mr. Gan Kim Yong grace the event. The Christmas carnival brought vibrancy and cheer despite the afternoon downpour, promoting family bonding through various carnival games, activities such as art & craft and balloon sculpting to yummy food that filled hungry bellies after an afternoon of fun! A big shout-out to the many alumni and beneficiaries of our programmes, to corporate sponsors and volunteers who gave back to the community through their performances, by serving at various carnival booths and supporting us in logistics and crowd control. 🙏 Thank you for filling the carnival with love for the children and families! ❤️ From all of us at LCSS, a blessed Christmas and a Happy New Year! Our 7th Golf for Life event saw 144 golf enthusiasts tee off under the clear blue skies 🏌️☀️, and about 180 guests who supported the evening fundraising dinner at Orchid Country Club on Friday, 30 September 2022. Knowing more about the world 🗺 - During a mentoring session, while looking at the world map displayed at The Hut, the mentee asked the mentor inquisitively why Greenland wasn’t the fifth largest country in the world seeing that it covered that much land area. Here's a young boy of different background of mine. People say there's an invisible wall for people of different backgrounds. By the 3rd and 4th session, I realise that wall never existed. My mentee gives me insight into the way he sees things and helps me understand what he needs. • Mentoring is about being a friend and a companion, to reach out and to connect. Mentoring supports and provides opportunities for what boys his age in the past would not have been able to do. • As I look back in life and all the breaks I've been given, I want to pay back society for all the opportunities that have been given to me. EduGrow gave me the opportunity to do what I cannot do on my own. I had some doubts at the beginning on committing. But that was 4 years ago. experiences may last a few days, but the lessons are for life 💡 - together with #tasekjurong and #mkfc, we entrusted our kids to @sportcares and @sandsleadership for a three days two nights camp - in spite of the scorching sun and the pouring rain, these little ones pushed themselves far out of their comfort zones to face their fears. some overcame their fears of heights to complete the intermediate rope course and scaled the rock wall, while others put up with the stuffy (then flooded) tents to rest for the night - all with the help of their old and new friends. it’s been an amazing experience for all of us, and we can’t wait for the next one 🏕 • #edugrowforbrightertomorrows #lifecommunityservicessociety #youngcampers #adventuresofalifetime #friendship #nofear #marineparade

Attended a charity golf fund-raising event by Life Community Services Society (LCSS). Never knew its existence but what they provide are so meaningful. To care for the children of incarcerated parents and provide them with quality and safe learning environment, a home which every child deserves. Though a member of NCCS, LCSS needs to raise millions of dollars for their operations annually plus the need for many volunteers. A Christian outreach initiative to the community.
