She is most well known for playing the character Cassiopeia in the original Battlestar Galactica. Spang was cast as Cassiopeia in the Battlestar Galactica pilot movie, "Saga of a Star World". An initial draft of the script had her killed off in the pilot film, in which the reptiloid Ovions consumed her, almost cannibal-style. However, the character survived and the network kept her on in a regular role in the subsequent weekly series, but "Standards And Practices" (network censors) forced a change of profession upon her. Batllestar Galáctica o Galáctica: estrella de combate es una serie de 1978 que en España pudimos ver en 1983. A esta única temporada la precedió una película que se llamó simplemente Galáctica y que puso las bases tanto para esta serie como para todos los productos posteriores, que no fueron pocos 😜. La película y la serie estaba protagonizada por Dirk Benedict (el del Equipo A), Richard Hatch y Lorne Greene y podemos encontrar a una joven Jane Seymour, Britt Ekland y a Noah Hathaway (el de La historia interminable) con unos 7 añitos. Creo que este clásico estuvo mal considerado ya que se estrenó el mismo año que Star Wars y hasta George Lucas los demando por similitudes con su película, pero a los niños de esa época nos encantó y esperábamos religiosamente todas las semanas un nuevo episodio. „Battlestar Galectica“ 4K UHD/Blu-ray-Set als 45th Anniversary Limited Steelbook Edition. Ich liebe diesen Film! Das Bild der UHD ist sehr gut, aber auch wechselhaft. Manche Szenen, gerade die Weltraumszenen sind teilweise recht grobkörnig, da war wohl nicht mehr rauszuholen. Nahaufnahmen und Modelle sind dafür wieder knackscharf abgebildet. So sehr wie gerade, der Film läuft im Moment, habe ich den Film noch nie genossen. Einige regen sich über das Motiv auf dem Steelbook auf. Warum? Alle anderen (Plakat-)Motive hat man doch schon auf anderen Veröffentlichungen verbraten. Ist doch toll, daß man mal ein neues Motiv verwendet. Ich finde das Steelbook voll OK! Was ich nicht verstehe ist, daß die Edition das 45th Anniversary feiert und GAR KEIN Bonusmaterial auf den Discs ist. Wer einfach upgradet hat hier das Nachsehen. Ich entsorge nie meine vorherigen Editionen. Wenn man nur auf den Film scharf ist, geht das klar, aber nicht wenn man an Covern, Booklets und Bonusinhalten interessiert ist. Happy birthday to Laurette Spang, born May 16, 1951. Laurette Spang-McCook is an American television actress. She is most well known for playing the character Cassiopeia in the original Battlestar Galactica. Spang was cast as Cassiopeia in the Battlestar Galactica pilot movie, "Saga of a Star World". An initial draft of the script had her killed off in the pilot film, in which the reptiloid Ovions consumed her, almost cannibal-style. However, the character survived and the network kept her on in a regular role in the subsequent weekly series, but "Standards And Practices" (network censors) forced a change of profession upon her. (The censors would no longer allow her to be a socialator, so Glen Larson and Donald P. Bellisario had her character become a medtech in the series, beginning with "Lost Planet Of The Gods, Parts One And Two") After a Universal Studios talent agent spotted her in 1972, Spang signed a 7-year contract with the studio. She then had a succession of guest-starring roles in television shows including Emergency!, Adam-12 (Episode: Venice Division), The Streets of San Francisco, The Six Million Dollar Man, Happy Days, Chase, Isis, Charlie's Angels, and Lou Grant. Spang also appeared in the TV movies Short Walk to Daylight, Runaway!, and Sarah T. - Portrait of a Teenage Alcoholic. She co-starred in a production of Winesburg, Ohio on KCET's Hollywood Television Theater. Spang's later acting performances were in The Love Boat, Fantasy Island, The Dukes of Hazzard, and Magnum, P.I.. She took a de facto retirement from acting in 1984, though she made a brief appearance in the 2007 horror film Plot 7, which also featured her by-then husband John McCook. In 2002, Spang appeared in the Battlestar Galactica episode of Sciography documentary series on the Sci-Fi Channel in 2002.
