First Quarter Catch Results π Charlie our Trap NZ expert reported that twice as many stoats were caught in the first quarter of 2024 (151) than in the last quarter of 2023 (66). This increase can be attributed partly to the growing number of traps in the field, as well as increased participation from people and community groups engaging in pest animal trapping. However, the increase will also be due to the stoat dispersal season, which typically occurs during the summer months. Juvenile stoats leave the nests between December and February, and as they explore their surroundings, they are more likely to take risks, making them easier to catch during this time. Kaipara Art Awards to return in October 2024 The annual (although we've missed a couple in recent years) Kaipara Art Awards return to the art scene in October 2024. With Awards in 2D and 3D categories, and the sought-after Emerging Artist category, the KAA are a wonderful opportunity for both emerging and experienced artists to showcase their skill and talent. Registrations are limited to the first 60 entries. Registrations will open in August. This is a heads-up to start thinking about, or indeed to start working on, your entry to ensure you submit your best work! Dimension limits: 2D work may be no greater than 1M by 1M; 3D work must fit within a 1M x 1M x 1M area, be no more than 25kg, (able to be carried by one person) and suitable for transporting from one gallery to another (packaging must be supplied). Work must be ready to hang or display. Work must be the artist's original work. AI generated work is NOT eligible.
