Redolescent - Alice #indieweek So we'll end this week (kinda tomorrow is still #indiefragfriday as usual) with this fantastic creation. This is @rose.and.jones Lizzie's sample, I'll send it back at some point 😜. But yes this is from @redolescent Alice collection and the great mind of the lovely Kyle. To me this one is the fantasy forget-me-not and blue florals, beautiful aldehydes with a touch of patchouli. Envelopes in some gorgeous musks and whimsy. I'm out walking in the woods and somewhere I can hear PJ Harvey playing. I find a small hole under a tree that I can squeeze through. All of a sudden the ground gives way and I fall landing with a thud. The music is much louder and there are seas of blue flowers and mushrooms. In a small cave I see a fire burning so I goto investigate. I find a small lab of distillers and test tubes. It looks like someone is making weird blue fungus liquids from the shrooms and flowers. There are thousands of bell jars with "Drink Me" written on them. It does smell incredible in there. Out of nowhere appears a a middle aged lass with crazy hair. She looks at me with her curious sapphire eyes, her flowery dress is ripped and she has a crazed look. "You're just the mushrooms playing with me, be gone strange vision of fat old man" she says. I put my hand out to touch her shoulder, she falls to fall weeping and tells me she's been down here over 20yrs. She offers me a drink... I politely refuse but sit down with her. As I look around there's some bones of what I think was a man with a weird with a knife in his back, and looks like she's been feasting on rabbits. I ask her if she wants to come back with me, she doesn't answer just jumps on me with loads of very intense kisses. Before passing out, I put her over my shoulder turn her music off and put out the fire and carry her out. In the end I marry Crazy Alice the Magic Mushroom addict, even after she told me just just had to shut up the hatted chap 😳. Well this is my own version of Alice. This one is dark molasses, cloves and other spices mingling with a shot espresso. It was in the old French Cafe I first met her Le Vamp. She was sat across from me drinking her black coffee reading Bram Stoker’s Dracula. Our eyes kept meeting and I felt drawn to her. She had long black hair that shimmered purple in the light dressed head to toe in black lace and leather. I had to speak to her so I offered her a piece of my black treacle pie which she politely refused. “My name iz Carmilla, nice to meet zu” she then said to me. We chatted for many hours as she told me all the plot holes in the book. As the sun went down she invited me back to her place for some wine, of course I agreed. Her house was a beautiful old cottage in the woods filled with velvet and leather and vases of beautiful dead flowers. She pours us some some black molasses mead, it’s intoxicating…….(check out Jon’s post for full story) 😉 So yes, this is a stunning dark sweet very seductive one. April Aromatics - Lost in Roses #indieweek So this is one I fell in love with last year, or maybe the one before 🤔 and really do enjoy it as a non rose lover. Obviously I'm a huge fan of @aprilaromatics and Wild Summer Crush was a present to me from me this year 😉 cos I'm worth it. This one is a lovely mix of like a million roses of all types with a touch of fresh citrus, sumptuous fruits and sweet greeness from some other florals. It's bloody gorgeous. Both fresh and red with warm and sweet. It's a very hot day so I'm off to take a dip in the ol' Rose Petal lake to cool off. It's filled with the essence and petals of trillions of roses from the great rose rains we get this time of year. The air is intoxicatingly sweet, powdery and musky, enough to make you swoon and rapturous with ecstacy. Nobody is allowed in there at the same time incase they fall insanely in love. I strip down and take a big dive, cushioned by the silky soft pillow like petals. I enjoy a nice long dip and cool off swimming around. Just then I noticed Calypsix the raspberry pixie jump in... It was too late the damage was done, the tide seemed to draw us together and we uncontrollably couldn't stop kissing, barely catching a breath, love making was almost instant. The fairy security sealed the area off and tried pouring ice, even neroli on us. Sadly nothing could break us apart, the love making and kissing when on for 72hrs, sadly I passed from exhaustion and extreme happiness with a smile on my face. I do hope Calypsix made it out. I mean the warning was there with reason, never swim in a lake with heavenly roses with anyone, it won't end well. This honestly is one them rose fragrances that goes through stages where the different roses shine and the way they compliment the other notes as they come through really adds some magic to it. If you're a rose lover, why haven't you tried this one 🌹❤️. Also to all the bros and "complement illusionists", yes it's very mmm 😍 but fragrance doesn't work like that. A bath, personality and some wit could help you be more noticeable and "charming". What's your most epic rose scent? Do you have a favourite AA? Are you a rose lover.

Sarah Baker - Flame & Fortune #indieweek Well I promised my good American friend the fantastic @_j.wstone Jackie I'd do an Indie week. This week is as good as any. They are all favourites from samples I haven't spoke about too much, more on my YouTube alot. They will be hopefully briefer than normal. The first is this absolute stunner from @houseofsarahbaker all mentioned will turn into full bottles through the year I would imagine. So aye this one is beautiful tuberose and other gorgeous florals mixed with fire and smoke and dipped in booze bascially. And yes it's as good as it sounds. Today is Karl Marx's birthday. Over here in Europe "socialism" isn't a scarey word. Only to them folks who inherit and steal their wealth whilst exploiting workers and humans in general, and avoiding tax 🙄. Good timing, our May Day Bank Holiday is tomorrow. Also he's a hero, but I'm not quite a Marxist, as a pacifist it doesn't quite work for obvious reasons. So yes, I'd sit down for a nice fairtrade brandy with the great man on the balcony filled with beautiful tuberoses. Watching the evil of capitalism burn to embers, the sound of the chains breaking and the end of inequality and racism. We are now all born equally, where we get in life is down to our own merit and achievements. No "Hammer and Sickle", the flaming tuberose, a symbol of love and passion is our new flag. Well yes a dream that sadly humans aren't capable of... Yet 😉. This fragrance is just a very gorgeous unique floral, maybe it would have made Karl a little more chilled out 🤣. These are the last 3 pieces from a series on women’s role in bookbinding I made in 2010. Wow is that really 14 years ago? A flatlay of bookish stitched things. All from my Advanced Bookbinding Course. I got into bookbinding because of the sewing. My background is textiles and this was the big attraction for me. So, I made an entire course looking at sewn structures in bookbinding so you can learn some more advanced stitches. Here’s a close up of the Japanese Stab Binding + Slipcase project that is this months tutorial. All 8 lessons are now live along with 3 PDF guides with all the measurements mapped out. The books are A6 size and fit snugly into a slipcase box. The new kit includes both Japanese Papers and Yellow Bookcloth, so you can decide which you want to cover your box with. This week I’ve been packing a lot of coptic book course kits. This was the first method I learned and I can see why everyone wants to make one. The exposed stitching is just a dream! This works well for me because in 2022 I accidentally bought 2000 curved needles (instead of 200) so putting them in your kits really helps make some space 😂 I’m going to be launching a new bookbinding course this weekend.
