The Institute of Child Health celebrated Immunization Heroes in collaboration with the Medical Women Association of Nigeria (MWAN) on the 26th of April, 2024 as part of World Immunization Week. 50th year of Immunization!!!! The celebration started with an opening prayer said by a clinic father who graced the occasion. after which, Prof. (Mrs) A. E. Sadoh ( Director ICH) gave a brief talk on the importance of Vaccination and HPV vaccines, especially for female children between the ages of 9 and 14 years. The President of MWAN, Dr Irene Akhideno, represented by the PE, Dr Mary Ehimigbai eulogized the importance of vaccinating children. Prof. O. Oviawe, the Chairman of the occasion, also spoke on the importance of vaccination. There was an award session to celebrate the Immunization heroes( children who started and completed their vaccination in the Institute). The children were grouped into 4 categories 1-5years 6-11years 12-18years 18 years and above. The Chairman of the occasion, the President-elect of MWAN, and the Assistant Secretary of MWAN( Dr. Elohor Okuonghae) presented awards to the Immunization heroes. The occasion came to an end with a closing prayer said by Mrs. A. P. Omoregie at noon.
