Sophie's first year as national stream gymnast, qualifying for her first Canadian Championships already. Making history today: Placing top 20 among a strong field of competitors from all over Canada, ranking 6th among Western Canada's gymnasts all around. What a great improvement and achievement! A special highlight was Sophie's ribbon routine today, which earned her the 15th place in a field of 35 Junior Open competitors, and the 2nd highest score from a Western Canadian gymnast. Wow! BHI 2024 🌷✨ Congratulations to our team for their performances at the 2024 Elite Alberta Championships, South Zones, and Brittney Hunt Invitational! We had a total of 25 gymnasts competing in 12 categories (1B, 2A, 2B, 2C, 3B, 3C, 5B, 6A, 6B, Novice, Junior, & Senior) as well as 4 interclub athletes. ASIAN PACIFIC CUP INTERNATIONAL VIRTUAL SKILL CHALLENGE Hosted by Staria Academy, Hong Kong 🇭🇰 🌟Showtime!🌟 First international competition for our young starter Interclub and provincial athletes! 🌎🤸♀️🌍🤸♀️🌏 Our team was invited to participate in the APAC online skill challenge. Our Stargazers and Little Stars had a fantastic time to learn mandatory skills, watching elements perfirmed by gymnasts from other countries, give each other feedback, memorize and practice body difficulties and handling with ball and hoop, and then of course getting in front of the camera for the big virtual competition. All athletes did amazing, the videos are submitted and we are waiting for the judges to evaluate each gymnasts over the summer. What a great opportunity to connect with gymnasts around the world and compete internationally thanks to technology! We all had a blast and learned many new skills. Ad Astra Athletic Academy Cosmic Stars World Gymnaestrada Team Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 There are 55 countries participating at the biggest sports festival on the globe - and one of them is Canada 🇨🇦 🌟 🍁🤗❤️! We can't wait to show our two unique choreographies at the 2023 World Gymnaestrada in Amsterdam soon. Some insight into our routines: Ad Astra's athletes have been working on finetuning two different routines following the internationally given rule that a mandatory minimum of 10 gymnasts must always be actively performing on the floor at all times. Our gymnasts need a lot of endurance because there is no sitting around on the sidelines. Each of our athletes performs both routines fully without any break. Ad Astra's INDOOR routine is 6 minutes and our PAGU routine is 3.5 minutes long. We follow the Gymnaestrada motto "Gymnastics for All". Our athletes are between 13 and 56 years of age. The team ranges from performance rhythmic gymnasts to western regional competitors, from a 1st year RG gymnast to a coach with over 40 years of coaching experience. We all loved working together the past two years. We included movement ideas developed by the team and some new ideas into our routines with a lot of unexpected highlights and many uncommon moments. We love experiencing and have a lot of fun by adding unusual props to commonly known gymnastics apparatuses. It creates some special excitement for spectators and performers alike. It keeps the audience surprised and entertained throughout long days of watching many gymnastics choreographies. The countdown is on!
