Woolga Choi (b. 1956) is an artist based in New York, where his studio is located, and Seoul, the country he grew up in. He Studied at the École Boulle, National Decorative Art School, Paris, and École des Beaux-Arts de Versailles in the 1990s. Choi held his first solo exhibition in 1979 and extensively exhibited his art in Korea as well as internationally since. His art was showcased in prominent galleries, museums, and art fairs in Tokyo, New York, Berlin, Paris, Budapest, Kyoto, Shanghai, Chicago, London. He is known for his work depicting primitive vitality and instinctive expressions of human gestures before languages existed, drawing inspiration from cave paintings.
