I have read a lot about WWII, both non-fiction and fiction, but I had somehow never read The Diary Of A Young Girl by Anne Frank - until now. Although I'd obviously heard of this tragic book, I had not anticipated it being a coming of age story in an annexed space. I was overcome by just how normal Frank's diary entries were; these are truly thoughts of a teenage girl! My heart broke for the many experiences she yearned for that were sadly not to occur. There is a remarkable amount of foreshadowing present, always of the heartbreaking variety. How tragic that Frank never got to see her words become published when she had author aspirations and adored history. Every time I read retrospections of how unjustly Jewish people were treated during WWII, I am amazed by the amount of optimism and humanity shown amongst the Jewish community; hope always manages to be present. Once again, this is the case with this book. I listened to the audiobook and often thought what a huge privilege it was for the narrator to read these entries. I'm so glad Frank's words were not lost to history. Have you read this book? Are you aware if it's required reading at any school? ( #MrDReads2024 May: a book with a Jewish author/character)

Things don’t always go exactly as planned - and when we had our surprises Archadeck always helped make it right. The finished product is incredible. My first five star read was before I started my bookstagram and it was Ruthless Vows. It was SO GOOD. For a sequel, it was done so well and wrapped everything up in a bow. If you have read Divine Rivals, you’ll love this! Synopsis (from GoodReads): Two weeks have passed since Iris Winnow returned home bruised and heartbroken from the front, but the war is far from over. The book that launched a thousand ships 💌 (or whatever that saying is) Helloooooo and welcome to another review of a book I read a long time ago that has an actual piece of my soul but I never posted a review because words are so hard to when trying to convey how much you love something!!! This was actually my first ever Abby Jimenez book, which prompted me to immediately read every single one of her other books, which I did all within the span of a month 🙃 is #fivestarfriday still a thing?? I just ….. wow. It’s hard for me to review a book I loved so much and one that has been reviewed a million times over. This book absolutely captivated me and I read it in one sitting. I related to both of the main characters in different ways SO much that it was like Abby clawed out a piece of my brain and turned it into a story. Just know Briana + Jacob are two of my favorite fictional characters ever and I hope Abby Jimenez and Emily Henry are besties irl because their similar writing makes me think they would be 🫶🏻 Swipe for synopsis if you need it!!! Some fav quotes: “‘I know all of your quiets. I know when you’re alone with me and you’re quiet, it’s because your brain is still. We are a mosaic. We’re made up of all those we’ve met and all the things we’ve been through. There are parts of us that are colorful and dark and jagged and beautiful.
