Il produira 3 séries de Clenet, chacune limitées en nombre d’exemplaires, entre 1979 et 1986. La Clenet est la concurrente directe de l’Excalibur mais se veut plus luxueuse. Reposant sur un châssis de Lincoln Continental Mark IV, la Clenet partage tous les éléments techniques avec cette dernière (moteur, boite de vitesse, train roulant). Each limited-production model was conceived, designed, and produced by a small team in Santa Barbara County, California, in the 1970s and 1980s. The automobile's distinctive styling was based on the high-end automobiles of the 1930s. Despite their retro looks, Clénets used modern drive trains and suspension systems. Clénet's first car was called the Series I. It was a roadster designed in a 1930s style. This was then replaced by the heavier-looking Series II in 1979. A total of 250 factory-authorized Clénet Series I, 187 Series II, 65 Series III, and 15 Series IV cars were produced by Clénet Coachworks, Inc. Clénets sold for around US$105,000 in the 1970s. Recently Clénets in excellent or new condition with no mileage have sold for US$100,000 to $150,000. Maybe not a car you would expect, or even know, but this is a Clenet Series 1. It looks like a 40s car, but it actually comes from 1979, designed with that classic styling but with "modern" equipment. Last week my parents had their 25th wedding anniversary, and I wanted to give them something special. This was the car they drove to the wedding, and I just had to make it. I spent some time in old photobooks to get the car right, and luckily they were really pleased with the present, it now proudly is a part of the kitchen decoration. It was fun building such an odd car. Built at 7 studs wide, it technically fits 1 minifig, but can squeeze 2 as well. To finish off the car, @brickstickershop made a small transparant stickersheet to cover the necessary details. The Clenet can be built in some other colours as well, like gray and black. Hope you like this car, as it was quite different from my usual builds. It is now my 3rd 7 wide build.
