Unpopular because when we surveyed menstruators where they kept their pads, 99% said WARDROBE. But think about it….. why wardrobe? Why not the bathroom where surely it’s more convenient? Turns out, it’s our in-grained period stigma at play. Because our society teaches us to hide this part of our lives away. For ages, periods have been treated like something shameful and to be kept in the closet literally. If men or guests see a pad in the bathroom, it’s ‘embarrassing’. Society tells menstruators that they are impure when they are bleeding. Even speaking about it invites judgement. In many parts of India, menstruators are still made to sleep outside in a secluded room, small hut or animal shed during those 5 days. This culture of taboo that has been passed down for generations perhaps tends to infiltrate the minds of today’s menstruators; be those in villages to those with urban privileges. This ingrained shame and hushedness might cause us to hide our sanitary pads in wardrobes, the folds of clothes, or under the mattress. While some might prefer to keep it in their wardrobe, the real question is: Is ‘preference’ the driving factor? Or does it arise out of stigma? Tell us in the comments: where do you keep your sanitary pads? #PeriodPower #HolisticWellness #flawsome #flawsomewomen #PeriodsPositiveIndia #PeriodPowerIndia #CelebratingPeriods #MoreThanJustAPeriod #DesiWomenHealth #PeriodsAreNormal #MyCycleMyHealth #PeriodHealthIndia #ReproductiveHealthMatters #PCOSWarriorsIndia #HormonalHealthIndia #FlawsomeWomen #ShePowerIndia #OwnYourSuperpower #DivineFemininePower #InnerStrengthIndia #CycleSyncingIndia #PeriodSexPositive #HolisticWellnessIndia #HealthyPeriodsHappyLife #FitnessThroughTheCycle #PeriodsNoTaboo #SheSaysIndia #WomenSupportingWomenIndia #MyBodyMyChoiceIndia

As someone who experienced this firsthand, I know how tough it is to break this circular problem. I’ve made it my life’s mission to eradicate period poverty and will continue to advocate for its end. Join me to spread awareness about it. There is power in awareness. You can choose to share this post or share your take. But do spread the word. ~Ranu Khade, Flawsome #PeriodPower #HolisticWellness #flawsome #flawsomewomen #PeriodsPositiveIndia #PeriodPowerIndia #CelebratingPeriods #MoreThanJustAPeriod #DesiWomenHealth #PeriodsAreNormal #MyCycleMyHealth #PeriodHealthIndia #ReproductiveHealthMatters #PCOSWarriorsIndia #HormonalHealthIndia #FlawsomeWomen #ShePowerIndia #OwnYourSuperpower #DivineFemininePower #InnerStrengthIndia #CycleSyncingIndia #PeriodSexPositive #HolisticWellnessIndia #HealthyPeriodsHappyLife #FitnessThroughTheCycle #PeriodsNoTaboo #SheSaysIndia #WomenSupportingWomenIndia #MyBodyMyChoiceIndia

As a menstruator, I bet you’ve felt guilty at some point for trashing disposable pads. While there are alternatives like reusable pads, menstrual cups, and period panties, I know that sometimes your circumstances dictate otherwise. Disposable pads are those necessary, convenient options that do make life marginally easy for us menstruators. That’s why, I am not completely discounting them. At Flawsome, the first pads we’ll launch will be disposable but with a difference. They’ll have the bare minimum plastic - 90% less than most pads. These pads will use a single base layer of plastic instead of the top, transfer, absorbent, and base layers used by other pads. My goal is to also eliminate that little layer entirely from our production process so that no menstruator has to choose between guilt and comfort during their periods. On #EarthDay, take a pledge with me to try to do better for Mother Earth. Less feeling guilty, more doing something about it. ~Ranu, Flawsome Sources: Menstrual Health Alliance India Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation ASSOCHAM #PeriodPower #HolisticWellness #flawsome #flawsomewomen #PeriodsPositiveIndia #PeriodPowerIndia #CelebratingPeriods #MoreThanJustAPeriod #DesiWomenHealth #PeriodsAreNormal #MyCycleMyHealth #PeriodHealthIndia #ReproductiveHealthMatters #PCOSWarriorsIndia #HormonalHealthIndia #ShePowerIndia #OwnYourSuperpower #DivineFemininePower #InnerStrengthIndia #CycleSyncingIndia #PeriodSexPositive #HolisticWellnessIndia #HealthyPeriodsHappyLife #FitnessThroughTheCycle #PeriodsNoTaboo #SheSaysIndia #WomenSupportingWomenIndia #MyBodyMyChoiceIndia
