A blend of some of the finest cider apples ... There has been a recent proliferation of single variety ciders, as people become more interested in cider and as cider-makers explore and expand their repertoire. We too enjoy presenting the characteristics of particular apples ... and suggest The Gribble (made with Yarlington Mill apples) and The Colonel (Ashmead's Kernel apples) for a beginner's foray into the sheer range of qualities that the humble apple can provide. That said, blends can be overlooked and there are times when we feel that the qualities of our core range don't quite get the attention they deserve. Our latest batch of RICH+MELLOW might be a case in point. Taste is such a personal thing, so unlike some cider-makers we tend not to blow our own trumpet and say such-and-such is an outstanding example of this or that, or suggest X is blooming marvellous ... it's up to others to decide. However, if you like tannic West Country cider you might like to try this. The flavour comes (mostly) from Yarlington Mill and Dabinett, with additional contributions from Kingston Black and Harry Masters' Jersey, and a touch of acidity is supplied by a sprinkling of Foxwhelp (a Gloucestershire variety, as it happens). We don't claim it's blooming marvellous or an outstanding exemplar of anything ... but it slipped down very easily. Please try some for yourself. #cider #blendedcider
