Last week we visited the Africa Rising Cycling Centre in Musanze. A beautiful cycling haven and the base for Twin Lakes Cycling Academy. Just like every other place we've visited in Rwanda, we were welcomed with smiles, kindness and warmth. The @blackunitybikeride team also presented a cheque for £10,000 and a load of cycling gear to TLCA. 24 cyclists of @BlackUnityRide (BUBR) are set to start a 6 days ride in #Rwanda from this Saturday in order to exlpore the beauty of Rwanda with objectives of Unity, Empowerment and Love. BUBR aims to encourage more Black people to enjoy cycling, prioritise their health, wellbeing and connecting the african diaspora with the continent. The last few years have been filled with changes and challenges, highs and lows. At times I’ve neglected my health and my happiness. But I found well-being on the roads, riding my bike, setting goals and being part of a community. Being on a bike is like meditation for me, it’s helped me find balance in my life and I’m so grateful to the community of cyclists that I’ve met along the way. Now onto the next challenge, new horizons and the next part of my journey where all roads lead to Rwanda. 🇷🇼 From the 4th May I’ll be joining 23 other cyclists from the @blackunitybikeride community as we take on a 400+km mission around Rwanda, climbing over 23,500ft in a country known as “the land of a thousand hills”. We’re also raising money for a good cause. Twin Lakes Cycling Academy is an NGO that provides former street children in Rwanda with access to education, hope and a better future through cycling.
