It’s that magical time of year again where adorable rambunctious babies and their fed up, exhausted parents are all over in Yellowstone. This mother coyote appeared from over the ridge to the delight of her five puppies, but they were a bit over enthusiastic with their little needle sharp teeth, so she bowed out quickly to go hunt. Peek a boo 🐥 Mama Hen and her 3 chicks are doing well…we worked until after dark last night to get the coop ready (enough )for her and the chicks. 🐣 I’m so glad I married a man who knows how to build stuff! He made such a great nesting box and perches for the coop— I’m thoroughly I impressed by him! 🥰 The rest of our flock we’ll leave at my dad’s (for now) until we get the fence finished. By then the chicks will be a bit bigger and we can introduce them to the others. The baby osprey have hatched in at least 3 of the 5 nests I'm watching. Fingers crossed these little ones make it to adult hood. Last year across the state there were very few that made it - including the 3 babies I was watching. They didn't make it much past the size this one is now.
