Περί το 1224 το Κάστρο του Πλαταμώνα κυριεύτηκε από τον Θεόδωρο Α΄ Κομνηνό τον Δούκα, όταν αυτός κατέκτησε το βασίλειο της Θεσσαλονίκης. Mετά τον Θεωδορο Α Κομνηνό Δούκα το κάστρο πέρασε στην κυριαρχία του αδελφού του, Μιχαήλ Κομνηνού Δούκα. Το 1259 το κάστρο καταλήφθηκε εκ νέου από τον Μιχαήλ Η Παλαιολόγο, αυτοκρατορα της Νίκαιας ( το απομεινάρι την Βυζαντινής αυτοκρατορίας). 💠Platamon Castle- Byzantine and Crusader Greece * 🏰Standing on a hill in Northern Greece near Thessaloniki with scenic views of the Aegean Sea is the impressive medieval era Platamon Castle. The history of this castle as a settlement dates back to Ancient Greek times, though historical accounts do not record the existence of this castle until the late 12th century during the reign of the Byzantine emperor Alexios III Angelos (1195-1203) wherein it was mentioned in a chrysobull in 1198. When the armies of the 4th Crusade captured Constantinople and dissolved the Byzantine Empire in 1204, Thessaloniki and its surroundings which included Platamon Castle fell under the Crusader Kingdom of Thessaloniki ruled by Boniface of Montferrat- the actual leader of the 4th Crusade- who then gave this castle to Roland Piscia who was probably one of his knights. It was thus under Boniface's rule when the castle was rebuilt into the structure we see today. The castle though would be under Crusader hands only until 1218 when the Despot of Epirus Theodore Komnenos Doukas captured it thus returning it to Byzantine hands. In 1259, the castle returned to the rule of the official Byzantine Empire (Empire of Nicaea) under Michael VIII Palaiologos (r. 1259-1282) after his forces defeated the Epirotes at the Battle of Pelagonia. During the Palaiologos civil war from 1341-1347, the castle first supported the imperial claimant John Kantakouzenos but later switched sides to the emperor John V Palaiologos and his mother and regent Anna of Savoy. Additionally, the castle during this civil war was also a prison for the rebels of Thessaloniki known as the "Zealots". Το μαγευτικό Κάστρο του Πλαταμώνα! Ένα ταξίδι στον χρόνο μέσα από τα ερείπια αυτού του υπέροχου φρουρίου στην Πιερία, στη βόρεια Ελλάδα! Αυτό το κάστρο, που χτίστηκε στον 5ο αιώνα π.Χ., αποτέλεσε ένα σημαντικό πολιτικό και στρατιωτικό κέντρο της εποχής του. Και σήμερα, μας μαγεύει με την ιστορία και την ομορφιά του! ✨🏰 Καθώς περπατάμε ανάμεσα στα ερείπια, η φαντασία μας ταξιδεύει σε μια άλλη εποχή, όπου το κάστρο φιλοξενούσε 140 κατοικίες εντός των τειχών. Όταν βρίσκεσαι ψηλά στα τείχη, απολαμβάνεις την απέραντη γαλήνη της θάλασσας και την επιβλητικότητα του Όλυμπου που καλύπτεται από χιονισμένες κορυφές.
