My Pirate May - Over on Twitter (Or X or whatever you want to call it...) there was a creative challenge I saw just a few days ago called The Pirate May hosted by another artist. I love pirates, and the challenge looked fun, so I decided to give it a go. Hoping I did the vibes justice with my pirate character, I wanted to give an "old treasure map" or "old sepia photograph" feel to it so I did a sepia coloured wash over the paper and coloured it (After I drew the character in ink first). The paper is strange though, it really drank up the wash and any water I threw at it, and it's slow to dry too. Speaking of, the paper in question is Daler Rowney The Langton Prestige and measures 12 x 9 inches. The design was done using ink and watercolour. Hoping you all enjoy and thanks for stopping by. I asked my boyfriend for some ideas on the colours and design features for this character. Asking others to help pick design features can help you branch out and make decisions in a drawing that you would usually not attempt, like in the case of this pirate, his colour scheme, the cursed sword and his beard. New Illustration Linework- ⚓️ Creating digital linework for my illustrations has really made my art process much easier, especially since I am able to attempt the same lines multiple times. A new work! That was a secret art exchange in VK. I got to draw this character, who is a pirate, but his author wanted to see him having a rest in a garden with a flower crown on his head. This garden was inspired by the botanical garden of Moscow State University, where I studied. There's an alley with the collection of lilacs and many peonies between them, as well as loads of daisies on all the lawns!) I thought daisies would suit this character the best. And some lilac and peonies in the background (yeah, that's yellow lilac, it really exists!)). And a tiny little challenge for you! Captain Illustration 🧭🌟 My favourite things about this illustration ended up being all the little details hidden throughout the drawing. I added metallic watercolours to the embroidery on the coat and to her eyes. I also added lots detail to the water, and I'm very happy with how it turned out (I also want to make more illustrations with water now...).
