I love a logical thrill but my heart nearly stopped on the spot on Train Street. I knew beforehand that the cafes are set up dangerously close to the train track but I gravely underestimated the intensity and speed of the train and its proximity to my body. Tables and chairs had to be turned to their sides and spectators instructed to sit flush against the wall. From the echo of the train’s whistle bouncing off of the buildings of the narrow street annoucing its imminent approach, to the rush of wind and the rattling of the tracks - this was an absolute adrenaline rush!!!! 🤯 As insane as this was, I’d definitely do it again! Creating memories with friends over a pig on a spit. Going to miss these people when we head off overseas for a few months. These kids have grown up too quickly before my eyes in the last 5 yrs!! Some of these ladies have been my biggest supporters since I was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer in Jan 2021. There have been others not in this photo that have been there for me and my family these last few years. I appreciate them all! I decided to finish up my Chemo this week. On Wednesday I had my targeted drug, Avastin. It's the first time I fell asleep during Chemo. The pre meds to avoid breaking out in hives wiped me out. I was in bed by 8pm and slept a solid 8 hrs. Luckily I bounced back and have no other side effects to report this round. Two weeks ago I had an urgent CT scan on my abdomen as I was experiencing pain in my lower quadrant near where my large cyst lives. Interestingly that pain disappeared and never returned after my combo Chemo round with steroids. I occasionally feel a throbbing pain in the small bowel area but relief follows when I go to the toilet. The scan showed the cyst is not obstructing anything to be the cause of the pain. So my guess is it's an inflammatory response within my bowels I got access to the official report of the scan and there has been no change in my cyst size but my cancerous lymph nodes in my abdomen have increased by around 4mm. The abdominal lymph nodes remain under 2cm in size now for the last 10 months. YET... My cancer markers dropped in the last round!! So fingers cross my shoulder and lung nodes are also minute or gone. On June 4th I have a Petscan before I fly out and will hopefully have a better picture of where I stand before I fly out for our EPIC trip. I also hope my HRD test results will be back and I will know if I have the option to use another targeted drug on my return. I made the decision to not do one more round of Chemo 5 days before we fly out as it will impact my energy and immune system levels on the flight over and in the first few days of our trip. The next two weeks is to focus on rebooting my immune system! I have 17 days for the trip of a lifetime to begin!!! #lifeisforliving

OOTD: 90's teenage boy chic! Hospital top tip: always dress for comfort! Each month, I have injections in my tummy and my butt, as well as my arm/leg so I have to remind myself to dress for comfort...and easy access. No jumpsuits. I found that out the hard way. No granny pants, I make sure I wear thong underwear so I can leave my pants on and they can still get to my 🍑 I make sure my sleeves are suitable for blood pressure readings, cannulas and blood tests, and I always wear a sports bra, avoiding any metal, just in case any impromptu scans are thrust upon me and I can stay in my own clothes rather than gowning up. Not to mention it helps to get undressed easily if you need a wee while you're dragging an IV drip around. Usually, I avoid wearing white (although obviously I forgot today) because I have had so many clothes ruined by unexpected bleeding at injection sites. Dressing for comfort also helps if you're at the hospital for a long time. Over the last three years, I've had treatments that last a few minutes and those that last several hours. I've also had ones that are meant to last a few minutes but issues and delays can mean I've been stuck for several hours. Like today. I used to like dressing up for chemo because it helped me feel more self-confident but nowadays, I'm quite happy to roll into the unit looking like a teenage boy if it means I can roll back out that little bit faster and get on with my day! P.S. I was called in early for treatment today and had a slight panic that something was wrong. But after a big delay due to missing prescriptions (again 🙄), they confirmed my bloods were at 1.3 (0.3 better than last month) and treatment cycle 4 is underway...I think I might need a mini break in the sunshine before every cycle if it helps boost my neutrophils ☀️ P.P.S. I am grateful to surgeons and their guided instruments. I’m grateful for the invisible seams holding me together. I’m grateful for the symptoms of disease that spurred me. I’m grateful for the scan machines that found the bonus tumor that showed no symptoms at all. I’m grateful for the 100 days between surgeries. I’m grateful for passing the heart physical treadmill test prior to the second surgery. I’m grateful for my sisters being by my side through it all. So many sweet sisters. I’m grateful that (it’s been almost five years) I’m still alive. I remember the surgery dates like children’s birthdays. Ribociclib/fulvestrant treatment cycle 3️⃣ week 4️⃣ I'm going to stop calling week 3 the tough week because I am slowly learning that you need to be prepared for anything, and my scan results this week certainly took the wind out of my sails. Trying to focus on the positives, and it is definitely great news that my liver isn't active, even if my back pain has exploded x10 since learning my cancer has officially spread. Highlight of the week was undoubtedly our trip to Sitges, but let's not forget how this week started...at an amazing fundraising event organised by the fabulous @melissa_golding. Not only did we have a super evening with delicious food, mocktails and amazing entertainment but I also got to meet the gorgeous @em_j_ambler in real life. Things feel tough right now and the support of my friends, family and my breasties here on Instagram means EVERYTHING to me. I thought I was incredibly chunky right here. And truth be told… I can’t remember a time when I’ve been away… And not had that thought. Critiqued every single snap of myself… Be that fully clothed or in a bikini. Analysing my body within every inch of its life. Thick thighs, bingo wings, a double chin… The list is endless. And the ironic thing is that when I look back, I realise not only that I was in good shape… I had balance & lived life to the full. Thriving in my career, in a new relationship… Travelling & exploring new places. I just wish I could’ve gone back & given myself a shake. To remind myself that I was enough, exactly as I was. And that I didn’t need to obsess over my image. Or waste time planning my ‘detox’ on my return. That working hard on yourself & making progress… Should never be at the detriment of enjoying the now. And I’ll be fully honest… I’ve by no means cracked this theory, far from it. But what I know for sure is this… I don’t want to spend forever, robbing myself of joy. I don’t want to look back retrospectively on every trip, And think ‘I wish you had realised you looked great.’ And instead… Feel great & KNOW IT…right there and then. 🌈✨ #InTheNow #LifeIsForLIVING
