BEING OF SERVICE OR BEING SERVICED Some people live their lives in service to others. Some people live their lives expecting to be served by all others. The former are #givers, the latter takers. Takers may initially give a little, just to then take so much more than they give. It is all about psychological and mental manipulation and pretense. But those who give from the heart, do not expect anything in return, because they give freely, and help genuinely, and only if they see, over a period of time, that someone is coming around, only to take, never bothering to give anything in return, or is just constantly breadcrumbing, they may realize, they are being used, so they choose to disconnect from the taker. When that happens, the taker gets mad, that they can no longer take from that person. Instead of feeling gratitude, for all the benefits they were previously receiving, and all the help offered, they may even go on the attack against the giver, who was incredibly kind and helpful to them, whenever they needed any kind of support. When that happens, one knows, one is dealing with a highly narcissistic, entitled, and very selfish person, because no one balanced would react that way, only someone with a premeditated hidden agenda, about what they tried to get from their target from the start. Takers have a feeling of entitlement and a superiority complex, even a god complex, they think, their mere presence is worth others just throwing gifts, money and favors before their feet. They think so highly of themselves, that they just expect everyone giving to them, taking care of them, while they offer little, or nothing in return. Identify and remove all such takers out of your life. Share with those who appreciate you and your gifts. Enter only reciprocal connections, with equal give and take. Dont ever settle for a narcissist, because you will never feel settled. They will drain you, and move on. Thats how they operate, on repeat. You deserve so much more. I’ve found that after folks share their dirty laundry, and they don’t finish the healing process, they will runnnn like Forrest Gump because of the shame they still carry. They fear what you may tell others about them. It’s unfortunate for them to feel this way, but understand it’s from a place of trauma. Someone has violated their trust previously and it has nothing to do with you. So, don’t take it personal. Fix that crown of your’s, then fix their’s, and keep it moving. 👉Those people can only keep taking though if you’re willing to keep giving… Surround yourself with people who want you for you, not just what they can ask of you, get from you, take from you. Those that care, they want to see you thrive, be happy, be well. They really don’t want you to bend over backwards, keep doling out favours, wanting you to give. I’ve worked with people who are barely able to survive and yet they’ve had people still expect them to show up and give! There really are no limits to how much some people will expect and demand from others. It is not only ok to say no in those situations, it is imperative. If you are constantly asked to keep giving from someone and you oblige, even though it doesn’t feel good to you, you end up in an energy deficit. You cannot thrive or even remain well in that space. The beautiful people in your life who aren’t just there to take, you feel good around. You have balance with them. You have a mutual exchange of energy- you happily help them and they happily help you. And not just ones that say they will help but never actually do! Why do takers keep taking? Often their have not learnt to trust themselves, they have lots of healing to do, they lean far too heavily on others because they don’t trust in their own abilities. This is not a bag on the needy, they have their reasons and it might not be malicious ones why they keep on asking and taking. You can’t help them though by keep being their wings; they need to learn to fly. ✨Appreciate those that gift you good feelings, and return them with good feels. ✨Love your connections with those who do value your wellbeing. Fact is; I like helping people, being kind, and appreciative. It’s in my core. During my time with GRMC EMS as a paramedic; I’ve been witness to some horrible, horrible things, I’ve turned “it” off and allowed a shell of myself to function and perform to the best of my abilities. That being said, I’ve also been witness to beautiful, amazing things. I love the people I work with and I like the work. With EMS WEEK coming to an end, I just wanted to thank everyone who had reached out, called, texted, or even just smiled at me. Mental health is something! Admitting you need help is OK. WHO ARE WE? WHAT DO WE DO? WHAT HAVE WE DONE? Our very first outreach was in 2022. We visited Gideon's Orphanage home, Obantoko, Abeokuta, Ogun State on the 6th of Feb 2022. We were able to get volunteers of like minds, and we raised fund towards the orphanage. In 2 weeks, with the help of God and men, we raised a total of 98 200, and for accountability, we got the following. 📌Rice 32000 📌Kings oil (5 litres × 2) 13000 📌 3 Noodles 7500 📌2 pack of toilet rolls 900 📌Miko refill 2400 📌Milk refill 2700 📌 Hollandia 3500 📌 Transport for conveying the goods from the market to my hostel 1500 📌Bank Charges and sms charges on all transactions 1000 (approximately) 📌Transport of the team to and fro 4000 📌Welfare package for volunteers 2500 (approximately) 📌Transfer to the orphanage account, a sum of 25000 📌A total expenditure of 97 700. Of course, we received clothing donations too, but we returned some because of condition and size. This is neither clout chasing nor show off, it's just an inspiration to someone. If we can lavish for birthdays that are just another random 24 hours, why then can't we show love to those who really need it. Yes, we could have kept the camera at home, and that's why we didn't snap any of the children at the orphanage home so as not to be tempted to post them. To the amazing team that made this possible. And for everyone who donated in a way or the other, we just can't thank y'all enough. 5/22よるごはんmeeting この日はDay6に向けて、イベントのPR動画をつくるチーム、チラシを作るチーム、当日のコンテンツを作るチームに分かれて作業や練習を進めました！ 各チームとも、それぞれ自主的に、出てきた自分たちのアイデアを形にしていきました。 インターンシップとして参加するGiversもファシリテーションや通訳サポートを自ら行ってくれました！とても良い雰囲気で活発に活動できました。 May 22nd Yorugohan meeting On that day, we organized three teams: one for creating a video to introduce our event, another for making a flyer, and a third for practicing the event content. Each team moved forward with their ideas to make the event amazing and fun!
