According to a study done by Dr. Martha M. Lauzen at San Diego State University, women only comprised less than 25% of directors, writers, producers, executives, producers, editors, and cinematographers working on the top 250 grossing films. It’s a shocking statistic given that women account for 50% of moviegoers, but it’s even more shocking when you dig deeper and find out that the percentage of women behind the scenes has stayed pretty much the same since 1998. It’s crazy how we have been chanting for inclusion and equality for the past decade, and yet we barely made any changes. After reading the studies along with my personal experience on set, we decided to try our best to recruit all women for the short film FIND ME. It wasn’t an easy task, but eventually, we were able to create a mostly female team. FIND ME is a story focusing on women, their mental health, and their perspective of their identity, which is why we thought it’d be a great opportunity to promote and celebrate the talented women in the film industry. I am tired of labels being pushed onto me that I simply am not! I am tired of my Nonbinaryness being judged & decided for me by others! Assuming anyone’s segguality is NOT okay - & also forcing labels onto people or demanding that they use certain labels over others is just as bad! I am Nonbinary. I am Queer. I am Trans. Man vs Bear and the damsal archetype I am currently on a solo trip in the mountains of Colorado, at a place called Grand Lake. So, this story is about my real world dichotomy example, not really my philisophical one, but perhaps a bit on that as well. I’m letting go of a lot on this trip. I believe many of us are constantly being asked to practice flexibility and adaptability in the constantly shifting world of relating, tech disruption, natural disasters and diseases we can’t control. Humans have generally been under the illusion that they can control nature. It’s just not the case, and I’ve been in school of constant shifting nature of life for my entire adult life. Not a single day has gone to plan that I can remember as a single working parent. For the past 16 years I have needed to be all the things. I have been trained to be for providing for my daughters. I sometimes joke that I don’t even know how to fake being a “damsal”. Disney seems to feel that it’s caught up to the times by showing women who are fearless, can go on a hero’s journey and do what “men” used to, and save themselves. But the hero’s journey is about the masculine coming into its full expression, in any human. And everyone also is best to go through a heorine’s journey as well, where they realize that the external dragon slaying is not where its at for the soul growth and that the real flex is their ability to face the demons lurking in the pit of their own psyche, and love themselves anyway. Again, I don’t think any of this is actually gender specific, though there may be certain encultured and entrained tendencies in our different bodies. Collectively there is a lot of polarity and confusion about what women should do, can do, want to do. With their bodies, minds and time. This is not new. However, what I can say, is that I, as a human who identifies as a woman in this body of mine, want to be in balance with men. And with the masculine as an energy in general. The Kelucharan Mohapatra Odissi Research Centre in Bhubaneswar was abuzz with discussions, presentations, and activities organised by the Dakshin team in collaboration with @viewsindiango. Throughout the day, distinguished guests and facilitators from esteemed organisations such as UNICEF, UNFPA, NAWO, and others, led sessions and participated in panel discussions spotlighting the significance of menstrual hygiene and the pivotal role of civil society organisations in Odisha's menstrual hygiene management. 6 Monate wir ♥️ Im Februar 2023 bin ich das erste Mal in die Gruppentherapie für trans* Personen spaziert. Da hast du schon gesessen und mir von deinem Hund und Fußball erzählt. Wie das eben in Therapie so ist, haben wir von Anfang an nahezu alles miteinander geteilt. Oft sind wir nach diesen morgendlichen Stunden noch miteinander Bahn gefahren oder ein Stück spazieren gegangen und haben fortgesetzt, was wir schon in der Gruppe angeschnitten hatten. Wir haben uns direkt auf eine persönliche und verletzliche Ebene begeben und währenddessen auch nicht gerade wenig miteinander geflirtet. Der erste Kuss fiel erst Monate später, im Juli auf dem CSD in Köln. Wir sind uns nur durch Zufall vor dem Dom begegnet und du hast plötzlich angefangen, mir das Ohr vollzusäuseln und zu erzählen, dass du schon lange ein Auge auf mich geworfen hast. Nun, mit solchen Aussagen konnte ich noch nie sonderlich gut umgehen, also habe ich dem kurzerhand ein Ende bereitet und dich geküsst. Irgendwie ging es dann weiter und weiter, wir haben gedatet und so viel zusammen erlebt, von einem kuscheligen Friedhofstreffen unter tobendem Gewitter bis zu einer fantastischen Reihe weiterer CSDs. Wir hatten von Anfang an darüber gesprochen, dass wir beide nicht monoamor leben wollten. Sowie, dass wir unsere Verbindung eigentlich nicht als romantische Beziehung labeln wollten. Erst im November bist du dann nochmal vor der Arbeit bei mir vorbeigekommen und hast mich nach einer halben Stunde schweigsame Nervosität und Anspannung gefragt, ob ich nicht doch deine Beziehungsperson sein möchte. Das ist jetzt genau ein halbes Jahr her. ♥️ Für mich ist das bisher die längste Beziehung überhaupt. Aktuell daten wir beide jeweils noch eine weitere Person. Wir kommunizieren und teilen erbarmungslos, was in uns vorgeht (😆), ob über die Gefühle zueinander oder zu den anderen Personen.
