“Notte d’ottobre” è un divertissement letterario scritto da uno scrittore che amava il suo lavoro e soprattutto amava il fantastico, e questa passione, questa giocosità (mi si passi il termine), trasuda in ogni pagina di questo libro. Una scrittura fluida e incredibilmente scorrevole, strutturata come in una specie di diario giornaliero che scandisce giorno per giorno un fatidico Ottobre che culminerà in una notte di luna piena.. evento assai importante, ma perché? Ma il narratore di questa storia ha due particolarità: la prima è che è un cane. Eh si, Snuff è un cane da guardia, per altro anche molto bravo nel sul lavoro, ed è anche il famiglio di Jack, un oscuro personaggio che si aggira per le vie di Soho armato di un coltello e dubbie intenzioni. La seconda particolarità nel nostro inusuale narratore è che Snuff è un protagonista di questo gioco (che conosce molto bene) e per questo motivo mentre resoconta le sue giornate non sente mai il bisogno di spiegare un bel nulla del quadro complessivo. In questo modo “Notte d’ottobre” diventa un gioco anche per noi lettori: seguendo il nostro Snuff muoversi in un ambiente che sembra quasi la plancia di un gioco da tavola a tema horror, si incontrano altri famigli e i loro padroni e di nessuno di loro ci potremo fidare fino in fondo, fin quando non scopriremo cosa davvero sta succedendo e cosa dovrà accadere la notte di Halloween! Il gioco nel gioco che mi ha sollazzata come non mai è stato scoprire tutte le citazioni e le figure letterarie che come in un enorme fan fiction prendono parte a questa bizzarra avventura che vi coinvolgerà dalla prima all’ultima pagina!

Una de esas frases es “¡El hombre lobo tiene pelotas!”, al momento nos viene a la cabeza estos “Gonnies” mezclados con los monstruos del cine de terror. La lucha del bien contra el mal, la lucha de unos niños contra los monstruos para salvar a la humanidad. No entiendo para qué está la policía, el ejército, Los Vengadores o Chuck Norris, si siempre que la humanidad está en peligro, es salvada por un grupo de niños o una familia que pasaba por allí. En un avión de mercancías viaja el Conde Drácula con el monstruo de Frankenstein en un ataúd que yo no sé de qué material está hecho porque cae desde el avión a una laguna y no le pasa absolutamente nada, yo creo que ese ataúd está hecho del mismo material que la caja negra del avión, esa caja que se llama caja negra, pero es de color amarillo. Luego si estoy yo en la piscina, hago un salto espectacular para tratar de impresionar a mi hija, caigo en el agua de espaldas y estoy una semana que no me puedo ni poner la camiseta. El Conde Drácula reúne a un hombre lobo con cara de búho, a una momia que se le ha montado el gemelo y va con la pata tiesa, al monstruo del pantano y a Frankenstein que es resucitado poniéndole unas pinzas en las orejas, vamos, que lo arrancan como si fuese un Seat Panda. Nuestros niños son fans del cine de terror y uno de ellos lleva una camiseta que pone “STEPHEN KING MOLA”, no como ahora que ves a influencers con camisetas de Los Ramones y Rolling Stones pero escuchan a J. Balvin. Tenemos a un regordete gracioso que su apodo es “Cebao” y para ayudar a nuestros chicos hay un abuelete alemán al que todos temen. Menos mal que la pandilla del monstruo no es de Mallorca porque sino los niños no podrían ni salir a la calle. MIEDÓMETRO DE MALÚ: “El maquillaje del hombre lobo se podría mejorar y no entiendo por qué en el castillo de Drácula en lugar de ratas hay armadillos. Before I started building my new Frankenstein monster I had to figure out how big he was going to be. Using The Rasterbater website, I downloaded loaded my thumbnail Frankenstein sketch and chose two different sizes… a 7’ and 8’ version. After using two rolls of scotch tape I got all of the pages together and hung. Go big or go home… I of course chose the 8’ version and started planning out my armature. I used schedule 40, 1” PVC pipe and fittings to create the form. I needed to add a support strut on the lower leg to stabilize the frame. I glued that onto the other PVC parts using Ma-300 Plastic Welder. That stuff bonds like nothing else! I finished off the base of the frame work with plywood soles that I bolted to the PVC foot. Now that I’ve got the armature done it’s time to start cutting foam!!! Please be sure to come to @monsterpaloozaofficial 2024 at the end of this month to see the finished piece in person!
