📍Cornwall : Animal Edition 🐕🦺 . Holiday blues have well and truly kicked in now I am back at work so whilst scrolling through my photos, I realised that our trip involved a lot of animals 🐴 . We visited Flicka Donkey Sanctuary and it was honestly the most wholesome morning. They have 103 donkeys and horses in their care and watching them was just lovely ✨ . We also took a trip to Newquay Zoo and some of their monkeys definitely lived up to the name of being cheeky 🐒 . Of course we had our own furry friend with us too. Miska loved all of the adventures that we had and I definitely think we wore her out 🐕 . If you are in Cornwall, I can’t recommend this place highly enough. @flickadonkeys it’s an incredible place run by incredible people. These beautiful donkeys are all rescued and live in this amazing sanctuary set up by Mary Berryman. You won’t regret visiting here. I’m not sure who benefits more, the gorgeous donkeys or us! They love cuddles! The cafe is 100% vegan and serves the best coffee and cake! The whole sanctuary is dog friendly too which is a lovely bonus! They have a sweet shed with books and cards for sale and all the proceeds go back for the donkeys. These donkeys deserve the best life going and they truly do have it here. If you fall in love with a particular donkey or just want to help you can also adopt one for £3 a month. Our annual visit to @flickadonkeys to adopt a donkey - this sanctuary is so lovely to visit. We watched all the donkeys for ages, read one of our favourite stories and then had a vote about which donkey we would choose. Conker won 5-1! I thought that I’d share an amazing sanctuary located in Penryn. Flicka Donkeys is a donkey sanctuary which looks after donkeys from harsh backgrounds to give them the best life possible. I have visited before (as seen in the photos haha) and I even have an adopted donkey called Violetta. The donkeys are looked after with care and compassion and aren’t treated as entertainment whatsoever (unlike some acclaimed ‘sanctuary’s’). A drove of donkeys for your viewing pleasure. We had probably the most wholesome day out ever at @flickadonkeys earlier this month. It’s a wonderful horse and donkey sanctuary based in Cornwall. They house, care for, and rehabilitate donkeys and horses who have either being abandoned, neglected, or have had equally unhappy life stories prior to arriving at Flicka. The team clearly put their heart and soul into the work they do at the sanctuary, even down to the on-site café (entirely vegan btw) and little gift shop. Not an ad or sponsored in any way, just someone who had a ball there and wanted to share 🫏.

I learned so much more about donkeys than I thought possible, saw some awesome dudes and dudettes, heard real life eeyores, got some much needed sun and ate some incredible cake!! Sooooo we explored Cornwall as much as we were able to in Tamsin and Andy’s car!! And luckily had @slamb_71 to accompany us on one of the days! We explored the old tin mines at Chapel Porth…..got the tides completely wrong 😑 and missed cave exploring. But we DID at last find an attraction that was OPEN!! Unbelievable, something was actually functioning in the winter!! The @flickadonkeys donkey sanctuary. I think I possibly enjoyed it the most 🤣, but we all had a lovely time meeting the donkeys and miniature Shetland ponies and then warming up in the vegan cafe. The Sanctuary was unbelievably FREE to visit!! Who would have thought? We definitely need to make a donation as it was such a great place, doing wonderful work…..but we haven’t yet 😬 The ladies got a night on the town to eat tapas -yum, way better than Spanish tapas 😂 And mummy and daddy Trass got to go on a running date while the kids had fun with Bronny Horne. A win win for all!! Amongst all the fun we were having in Cornwall was frantic work going on in the background for many hours each day - talking to insurers, trying to find out if a warranty we purchased with the car was going to provide a service - of course NO, taking the speed mobile back to the car mechanics, etc etc etc. Pretty draining and frustrating at times, I can tell you. Anyway long story short we were lucky in the end that the door got damaged in October as the car was deemed beyond economical repair. Unfortunately we didn’t want to make any assumptions and therefore poor Sue and Giles had to put up with us for 2 more nights while we worked out what would happen to the car…. #cornwalltinmines #chapelporth #cornwallinwinter #flickadonkeysanctuary #truro #bodegatapastruro

This time last week, this is where I was and it was such a beautiful experience. The yard is immaculate and the donkeys are so well cared for after experiencing such horrendous hardships before coming to the sanctuary.
