Rosebud is here with the Friday Scoop: - We're having our 1st ever Fiber Sunday at Lake Hill Winery in Carthage, IL this Sun., Feb. 12th from 2pm-4pm! What's Fiber Sunday? A gathering of people 21+ years old that are interested in or obsessed with fiber and fiber art (felting, spinning, knitting, crochet, weaving, macrame, quilting, etc.). It's a fun way to meet like-minded people in the area, get inspired and learn new things, craft with company, and support our local winery! This Sunday, you can learn to needle felt and/or how to spin fiber into yarn using a drop spindle. Of course, you can bring your own project and do whatever, but if you'd like to learn needle felting it's $10 to make a 5x7" needle felted picture, or you can get a cookie cutter felting kit for $10 and learn how to felt using cookie cutters (and have a kit to take home and make more with!). For $20, you can learn how to spin using a drop spindle. You will receive a handmade drop spindle from Hickry Ridge Homestead to keep, made from local wood, and one oz. of fiber to spin with. Megan, from Hickry Ridge Homestead, will show you how to use your drop spindle, then you can sip wine and spin away! We will have supplies available for purchase in case you want to make more felted pictures, spin more yarn, get a kit, etc. Please remember to purchase a drink (or many drinks) and/or food item so we are not loitering, and support the winery for hosting us.
