The Prince and the Pauper ๐งต๐ชก We start by looking into the symbolism of a disguise. A disguise is used not only to hide one's appearance but also their true intentions and nature. To conceal one's identity, to create deception for the audience. We see Insanity be offered a wig to use to hide himself, for MITO is expecting. But Insanity has never met nor seen MITO before, so how can it be that he'd be recognised or, in turn, recognise MITO? So Insanity is confused and reluctant. The letter at the beginning of DGI serves as nothing more than a trigger. Because Insanity reads the words and doesn't understand why Ian writes 'we' when it's supposed to be just him. Why MITO, Ian, the Hybrid, and Insanity are all separate entities who all theoretically reside within one subconscious in the real world. Insanity doesn't know he comes from Ian, and perhaps that's where the idea of him being the Creator starts from. Insanity believes himself to be him and forces this upon not only MITO but everyone in The Other Side as well. As the Crow once again makes his appearance, a spy not so subtle, yet easy enough to miss, Insanity makes his way to Emerald City. A new man. Insane and volatile. A disguise not for MITO, but for us. These Broken Stars I've theorised before that there are times we can't tell MITO and Insanity apart. What if when Insanity banished MITO and 'threw' him out of heaven or better said, The Other Side, he not only unleashed evil forces and triggered new powers without MITO, but also sent some of his own powers together with him? Perhaps that's why we see butterflies surround MITO and then disappear with him into that portal. He was a lost soul throughout Famous Last Words and WTTOS, fighting for control in Limbo, drowning into madness in DGI, succumbing to said madness in Bad Cold and SID, his last moment of clarity in PBnT and then complete Insanity in Violet Crazy. The fireflies recharge Insanity, they give him his explosive power. Yet their existence is supposed to symbolise hope in the darkness. Contradiction. One for the Crow Crows in dreams symbolise fears and anxiety, stress, and negative emotions. Darkness. The world of black and white MITO brings with him whenever he's near, except he doesn't do that in The Other Side, not until a certain Clown comes to taunt and trigger him. When Insanity comes to play, MITO unleashes either a power that was kept dormant within him, or, one he gains in order to match this new God who came to challenge. But MITO is smart like the Crow that represents him, and he doesn't show himself until the very last minute when the precious key is about to be stolen as to keep his identity and power a secret. Funny how that turns out to be his downfall. Perhaps if MITO showed himself earlier... except, he did, yet not in the way he should have. He was there, watching, examining, learning, and underestimating the Clown God. What a foolish choice that was. Tricked and overpowered, the Crow God loses the first match against his counterpart, and it all turns to chaos in The Other Side. Insanity takes over. A Feast For Crows Crows symbolise death and misfortune, but also rebirth and intelligence. They represent the power of change, yet if you spot a single Crow, that means bad luck. MITO sends his little spy to watch over Insanity and as the Crow follows the Clown God and The Green, bad things continue to happen. The Crow God watches over using his all-powerful eyes. Ravens symbolise prophecy and insight, connecting the real world with the other side. Crows and Ravens are closely related, yet different in appearance. What we see and hear follow Insanity, to me, sounds like a Crow. Yet what picks out at the ever changing being of Limbo is a Raven.
