Ramen Raijin @ramen.raijin I had class at UofT near Museum station, and I searched restaurants nearby and found Ramen Raijin. The restaurant looked hidden and I had never heard of it before, but it had so many good ratings online that I decided to check it out! I ordered the tsukemen as it looked interesting and I had never had tsukemen before. Rich Gyokai Tonkotsu Tsukemen $18 Dipping style noodles topped with bean sprouts, nori seaweed and seasoned egg. The soup contains diced pork cha-shu, diced onion, green onions, sesame, and chili peppers. After eating the noodles, enjoy SOUP-WARI! SOUP-WARI : after earing the noodles, ask the server for SOUP-WARI and add Dashi-stock to the soup to make it drinkable. Enjoy Until the Last Drop! Takoyaki $8 Deep fried octopus ball. Tsukemen was wonderful, and I would consider this to be the best ramen I have ever had. I was pleasantly surprised at how good it was upon the first bite. The dipping broth was very aromatic and well flavoured. There were chunks of fat and bamboo inside. I would only wish that there would have been more meat / fat inside (the second time I came here, I also ordered pork belly on the side so that I could have more meat). Another thing is that the soft-boiled egg wasn’t as soft and runny as I would have liked, but this isn’t a big deal. The portion was also smaller than other places, but that just gives you more room to order an appetizer!!! I ordered the hot noodles, and I was recommended this over the cold ones because they maintain the temperature of the dipping broth better. In the end, I used up almost all of the dipping broth, so soup-wari wasn’t that necessary, although I did try it, and I would prefer just drinking the small amount of leftover broth rather than add the dashi stock. Takoyaki was alright. I would 100% recommend the tsukemen and come back again to enjoy this dish. Hokkaido Ramen Santouka I’ve heard a lot about this place over the years and many people have told me that it’s their favourite place for ramen, so I decided to come take a visit for lunch. I’ve heard that their original (and perhaps the most popular) dish is the Tokusen Toroniku Ramen, which is ramen and pork jowl, but I was in the mood for some tsukemen. Tsukemen (Soy Saucce Flavour) $18.55 Chilled ramen noodles served with hot dipping soup. I didn’t like this dish. Firstly, there was so much MSG in the soup that I ended up drinking 4 glasses of water. Secondly, the pork smell was bad rather than aromatic; it made me glad that I didn’t order the pork jowl ramen. There also weren’t many meat / fat pieces in the soup, and the bowl was quite pricey. The cold ramen also made the dipping soup cold very quickly. Perhaps this issue is something rather recent, because the many of reviews I read on Google around the same month I went had the same complaints as me. 📍Tsujita LA Artisan Noodle🍜 🧾What we ordered: Deluxe Tsukemen, regular Tsukemen, and Chicken Karage! I visited this place a few years back at their Glendale location but never got around to visit again at their new one after Ajisen Ramen shut down 🥲. Decided to treat my aunt out to dinner, and she ordered the deluxe which comes with a soft boiled egg and chashu, while i ordered the regular, and we both shared the chicken karage! Tbh i never really tried any other dipping ramen places so I feel like it would be hard to compare against a benchmark. I would def say that the dipping ramen here is more on the heavier side, more so than regular soup ramen (obviously lol). The side broth that comes with each order is dense and richer, and already has some protein inside. So unless you’re really hungry, u can leave pretty satisfied from just ordering the regular version. They give u some lime to garnish ur noodles and broth with, which really helps balance out the flavors. The chicken karage on thO … OMG SO BOMB. Came out really crispy and juice and overall was just MWAH CHEFS KISS. Comes with honey mustard mayo and a chili sauce that really helped elevate the flavors. Prob top 3 chicken karage i’ve had?? will be back just for that hehe. Will also try their regular ramens if i have the chance! 💲: ~$24/person Space: A small restaurant but with spacious and comfortable seating!
