#meetthecurators Mihaela Cîrjan • @michelle.panthere • (b. 1985) is an interdisciplinary cultural worker based in Bucharest, Romania, acting independently as cultural manager and, under the chosen name Michelle Panthère, as cultural context creator. She works in collaboration with artists and artistic collectives from different cultural backgrounds or with her own ideas, focusing on a practice of collective care and growth. In 2016 she co-founded the NGO MATKA, an instrument to develop artistic and educational projects for and with marginalized groups. In 2020 she initiated Rezidența21 • @rezidentza21 •, a platform for artistic residencies and programs focused on experimental and contemporary music production and the development of the local independent scene. Also in 2020, she co-founded the initiative Atelierele Malmaison, a space dedicated primarily to hosting artist studios in the historical building Malmaison in Bucharest. In recent years her interests have expanded into the curatorial area, with a focus on creating interdisciplinary collaborative contexts guided by the threads that unite feminist, posthuman, queer and decolonial thinking. With this in mind, she hopes to develop an open space for residencies, artistic experiment, critical and speculative thinking near Bucharest, under the name Anexa Matka, which was already inaugurated with a transnational residency in summer 2023. Testing Testing! When you turn on your tap and pour yourself a glass of water or fill the kettle, I bet you didn’t realise this was happening throughout the day, everyday, all around Northumberland’s reservoirs. Many of @northumbrian_water staff are regular as clockwork, routinely taking a sampler machine out to multiple locations to test the water purity of our tap water supply. I followed their team one bright summer’s day last year to capture shots of this process for Remote Sampler who are the company who designed and produced this amazing bit of kit. Vineri, 24 mai, a fost inaugurată poteca 𝐑𝐞𝐳𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐚𝐭̦𝐢𝐚 𝐝𝐞 𝐠𝐡𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐞 – 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐚̆ 𝐬̦𝐢 𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐞 𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐞 în Parcul Natural Comana. Este a doua potecă dintre cele cinci care vor fi amenajate în cadrul programului Cu Apele Curate, după poteca tematică „Între natură și istorie”, inaugurată la finalul lunii aprilie în Parcul Natural Porțile de Fier. Poteca „Rezervația de ghimpe – Natură și legende istorice” este amenajată în parteneriat cu Asociația de Ecoturism din România, Parcul Natural Comana și @romsilva.rnp, Direcția Silvică Giurgiu, Ocolul Silvic Comana. There are many reasons why a prescribed burn may be beneficial for a landscape or habitat. We use prescribed burns as a versatile tool for many situations such as site prep, maintenance, or ecosystem recovery. For example: limiting invasive species, enriching the soil with nutrients, prepping a site for planting/seeding, wildfire prevention, oak regeneration, prairie maintenance, debris removal, and promoting wildlife habitat. Poteca tematică „Comorile de la Agighiol” poate fi străbătută pe Dealurile Agighiolului și reprezintă o sursă de comori de acum 250 de milioane de ani și păstrate până astăzi. Comori științifice, care așteaptă să fie descoperite prin intermediul rocilor și al fosilelor, comori naturale, date de habitatul de stepă cu tot ce are el mai valoros și comori ale biodiversității, cu speciile sale unice care pot fi găsite doar aici. Ce ne-ar putea surprinde privirea de mici sau mari exploratori? ▪ calcarele triasice și procesul lor de formare; ▪ habitatul de stepă pontică, unic în România; ▪ poiana cu bujori și orhideele din pădure; ▪ patru specii protejate de lege: clopoţelul dobrogean (Campanula romanica), ţestoasa dobrogeană (Testudo graeca ibera), popândăul (Spermophilus citellus) și hamsterul dobrogean (Mesocricetus newtoni).
