2weeks till Opening Night. Here’s “Echoes of Nostalgia” An exploration of acrylic paint, projector slides, and the reflective nature of past events and memories. I aimed to capture the essence of travel, abstracted interpretations of individual experiences, and the multifaceted nature of perception. These fragments of imagery from times gone by serve as both tangible artifacts and metaphors for the evocative power of nostalgia. As I project these slides onto the canvas, they become a bridge between past and present, merging history with contemporary artistic expression. Through this juxtaposition, I aim to capture the transient nature of memory and the interweaving narratives that shape our understanding of ourselves and the world. This artwork will be at the @brisbaneartscollective Reflections Exhibition at @gabba_art from 29/8-2/9. #thats_sooo_richele @gabba_art #gabba_art #brisbaneartscollective #bneart #bneartist #bneartistsoninstagram #brisbaneartist #woolloongabbaartgallery #brisbanegallery #whatsoninbrisbane #woolloongabba #abstractart #acrylicpainting #acrylicartist #abstractartist #abstract #paintingmakesmehappy #veteranartist #artistherapy #artishealing #canvaspainting #canvasart #artstudent #acryliconcanvas #ilovecolour #banbarewalls #palletknifepainting #artstreecreations

Meet Cathy (Blodwyn) Godwin. Cathy has been attracted to, and using the arts as a vehicle for expression since a young child. As can be seen from the eclectic collection of materials in her studio and artworks in her gallery, she works in a variety of media and modes. She has always been attracted to a naïve\impressionist style in her painting, and for the past 15 years has worked in recycled\ reused materials giving them a second or sometimes even a third life. She explores ways of presenting ideas, layering them in her 2D and 3D works. Cathy looks beneath the surface in her artwork to find different exploratory ways of representing her ideas and impressions of the world, both within and around her. Her art brings to her viewers a sense of challenge to interpret and move in a not always comfortable space. She takes subjects and items of comfort and security and scrapes below the surface, to show what lies beneath that skin deep representation. @blodwyngodwin #bnearts #brisbaneartscollective #brisbaneart #brisbaneartist #whatsoninbrisbane #artexhibition @petrie_terrace_gallery #embracingdiversity

Meet Lynette Gawne. Lyn’s love of art started at a young age, however raising a family and working full time meant her art became only a hobby. As her children grew up and left home, her purpose in life took the direction of fulfilling her dreams of becoming an artist. In 2017 Lyn started to take her art more seriously – Lyn is a self-taught artist, with no formal training, learning through mistakes and experimentation. She describes her art as realism and uses acrylic, oil and pastel as her medium. “I get such a thrill out of standing back and looking at what I have created and to know it looks real, whether is a portrait, landscape or still life.” To Lyn there is no better feeling then to see the light catch and reflect through a vase that she just painted. Lyn is now an award-winning artist and over the last 5 years has entered many art exhibitions. Her achievements have been outstanding taking out several 2nd places, people’s choice and highly commended for her first time entering into a Recycled Art category. Her latest achievement has been 2 of 2 artworks chosen as a finalist for The Doyle’s. Moving forward Lyn can only see improvement in her art as she becomes more creative. @artist_lyn_gawne #bneart #brisbaneart #brisbaneartscollective #brisbaneartist #whatsoninbrisbane #artexhibition #embracingdiversity @petrie_terrace_gallery

Meet Vandra Olsen. Vandra's creativity is boundless and her passion shines through everything she touches. This, combined with her innate sense of colour and tone, results in work that engages and delights the observer. The artistic genres she has mastered over the years include lead-lighting, painting, resin, mixed media and encaustic art. Encaustic Art is her latest passion. This technique combines bees wax and resin. Many layers are fused with a gas heat gun. It is one of the oldest forms of art dating back to the 5th century BC. Vandra continuously challenges herself by exploring every facet of the creative world that she finds so absorbing and captivating. Originating from the beautiful Atherton Tablelands in Far North Queensland, her love of the natural world, colour and space, was forged in this most spectacular of landscapes. Many hours were spent exploring magnificent waterfalls, lakes and rivers, while being surrounded by some of the oldest trees on the planet. This environment fed and nourished her creative soul, feeding a love for the beauty and colours found in Nature. @vandrarae #brisbaneartscollective #bnearts #brisbaneartist #whatsonbrisbane #brisbaneexhibition @petrie_terrace_gallery #artexhibition #embracingdiversity

Susan’s paintings are heavily influenced by colour, light and movement and whilst the topics of her paintings change, those three influences are always present. Her paintings may integrate texture or mixed media in order to show the subject matter in the best light and she likes to create a multi-layered surface with hidden details to invite a close inspection of each painting. For Susan, the mark making process is key to the development of a painting’s meaning, as is the experience of viewing. @susanhuby @petrie_terrace_gallery @brisbanecitycouncil #brisbaneartscollective #bnearts #bneartist #whatsoninbrisbane #artexhibition #embracingdiversity #colorful #colorfulart

Keep Swimming 145mm x 105mm Ocean and marine life mesmerised me so much and I often forgot I can’t breathe naturally under the water when I use to scuba dive. This art piece illustrates a school of coral reef fish having a delightful time swimming with jellyfish. Due to jellyfish venom, fish don’t swim around the jellyfish in reality. In spite of that, in my arty underwater world, all marine creatures help each other and coexist. • • • #marineanimals #marinelife #marineanimalart #marineanimalsofinstagram #marineconservation #coralreeffish #coralreef #jellyfish #underwaterworld #artofinstagram #illustrationofinstagram #inkdrawing #inkart #penart #artexhibition #brisbaneartist #naturlover #brisbaneexhibition #cuteart #kawaiiart #aqua #enjoybeingcreative #micronpen #penartist #brisbaneartist #brisbaneartscollective #brisbaneartscene #eriyamaguchi_art

Introducing Gael Kennett. Gael has always enjoyed dabbling in a variety of art and crafts, including stained glass, ceramics, scrapbooking and card making. She first began watercolour painting in high school and now, as a retiree, has time to take painting more seriously. Gael enjoys painting animal life using a palette knife with acrylics and texture medium. She enjoys the artistic freedom in creating animals as no two appear the same. Gael loves seeing the animals come to life as she adds the final highlighting tints and the glint in their eyes. #brisbaneartscollective #bnearts #whatsoninbrisbane @kennett.kreations @petrie_terrace_gallery
