This did remind me of "The Maid" and also "Tilly" from my current read "the puppet show" . It was good to read it It was funny Easy to get into And Was not slow like 'a man called Ove' (it was still good) . I liked all characters Her husband also who changed a bit in the end And Yes the end did remind me of one popular feminist Bollywood Movie (won't say the name it will be spoiler for others) . I loved it 🥹 And Loved the end too 😄 . It's a must read guys For the lovers of self help books . . . Just finished reading A Person is a Prayer by Ammar Kalia 🧡 and man this book is beautifully written! When I read the synopsis for this I just knew it would be for me - spanning time and continents, this intergenerational novel centres on the marriage of Bedi and Sushma and their three children. The novel begins at their first meeting, where we learn of their hopes for the future and their pledge to find happiness together. Fast forward and their adult children are still in search of the same things within their own families, and are going on a journey together to lay their father's ashes to rest in the Ganges. One of my favourite things about this novel is that although it's character focused - which doesn't always work for me - it's structured so we get a section from each sibling providing their account of the same event and how they come to terms with their grief. This really heightens how communication (or lack of) within families can create such heart breaking moments of misunderstanding. There was a lot of mixed reviews on this book! I have to say I actually really enjoyed it. Luke and Harper are both very flawed people and their relationship is definitely questionable at times, but overall, I fell for them! The book seemed to take ALOT of almost random turns at times, which I’m not overly sure if it added anything to the overall story but it did keep me hooked. I really loved the fact that Luke was in the military and the effect a deployment has on a new relationship. It was fun, engaging and romantic. The character were well written and I liked the coming of age aspect to it alongside the historical / mystery / ghosty. I did struggle with the anonymous narrator though, I prefer the characters to tell the story. This great premise is the catalyst for a romp of a read, as Christina tries to work out if she was the one who hit her husband, and, just as importantly, what he was doing on a country lane in the middle of the night when he was supposed to be at home minding her kids. A J Campbell is the queen of the progressive complication and in this book she surpasses herself. I couldn’t help but feel sorry for Christina as her life starts to unravel. It’s not long before our poor protagonist is doubting her own sanity as she begins to suspect that everyone around her has something to hide. Blackmail, the relationship between twins and siblings, guilt and betrayal are all explored in this belter of a psychological thriller that’ll have you turning the pages long into the night. As usual with A J Campbell’s books, I failed spectacularly to sort the bad guys from the good guys, which is just how I like it. It was an easy five stars for me! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I had trouble connecting with the FMC - Molly felt pretty childish in the way she handled things at times - while Seth felt super overeager compared to Molly’s nonchalance. Some of this dissonance could be that my personality is complete opposite of Molly’s, so I couldn’t really relate to her but I did see a lot of myself in Seth. Thankfully this got better and the end redeemed itself for me. I did appreciate a more emotional male character and he balanced out Molly’s pessimism pretty well as the story went on. Molly was also very aware of how her childhood trauma caused her to shirk relationships and the fact that she acknowledged that felt refreshing too. I really liked the ending and would recommend this for a rom com this summer if you like these vibes! First, I couldn't get into the writing style. I could see the potential for it to be beautiful but I was finding it a chore. Maybe I wasn't in the right mindset. My other reason for DNF-ing was how unsettling I found some scenes. The main character has an obsession and some of the things he does is just straight up creepy. But can she carve out her own place in the legends in a world made for men? 🏺This story is in 3 parts: Atalanta's childhood, the Argonaut quest, and afterwards. I found the first section a bit slow and I was worried I wouldn't get into the book. But then we got to the quest and the pacing picked up. It could've been more epic but I still enjoyed this section. 🏺The last section was a drop in the pacing and you could feel how directionless Atalanta felt. I found her decision making wasn't very clear and seemed to be more based on pride, which made me like her less.
