Coffee Table with Garrigue Tiled Top by Roger Capron The handcrafted tiles, which were produced for about 15 years - from the mid 1960s to the late 1970s - were produced by a technique in which real leaves were pressed into the clay and disintegrated during firing, leaving a finely detailed imprint. The leaves come from "La Garrigue", regrouping all types of vegetation indigenous to southeastern France where Roger Capron worked and which inspired this series of tables. A Little Bit (About) Memphis... The Memphis Design movement began with a meeting in Milan, Italy, where designer Ettore Sottsass founded the group named after a Bob Dylan song. Fueled by influences from earlier movements such as Pop Art and Art Deco, Memphis' colourful furniture has been described as bizarre and misunderstood.
