Today I'm only posting one picture for small things Saturday...not because I didn't have others, but because this one encapsulates so many small things for me... Sitting in the sun...one one my favorite pastimes...it just calms me. People watching...when I'm out and about, I forget to slow down and look people in the face, smile...I get too tightly focused on my mission. But when I sit down and relax (without my phone) I find that this world and the people in it are infinitely varied and o so interesting. My girls... there's no hiding the joy I get from the companionship of our two girls (only one is pictured here.) My tattoo...for starters, it's my husband's initials. It also reminds me of hard times, commitment, and God's faithfulness. One day recently Brett and I had gone to a food hall and split up to find the food we each wanted. When I stopped at my spot, the cashier said, "is your husband here?" It was an odd question and gave me pause, but I just said yes. She saw the unspoken question and said, "he has the same tattoo". He does, but his has my initials. 🥰 My hand...it's my mother's hand but a bit younger. The same big veins, long, skinny fingers, big knuckles. The ones that have done so much for me over the years. My rings...the one on my pointer finger is my mom's wedding band. She wanted me to have it now rather than later. It reminds me of her and my dad and how their story became a part of mine. The one on my ring finger reminds me of how very loved I am. And each time I catch it sparkling in the light it makes me smile. So many lovely things present in even a single moment. Soak them in.

It was sent by the then president, Honourable Dr. Kalam chacha, in response to the self choreographed dance video I sent him. I had danced on two kannada poems for Karnataka Rajyotsava - onde onde Karnataka onde by Varakavi Da Ra Bendre & Vishwa Vinoothana Vidya Chethana by Nadoja Dr. Channaveera Kanavi. I was 5 years old then. I apologize for the long post, but my mind won't let this go. Nearly two years ago a friend texted me saying "promise me you aren't going to flip out when you hear this". That day I found out my closest friend did something really bad, and sure enough I flipped out... so bad I needed a few of my closest friends to keep the chains attached to the floor. It was the biggest gunshot to my heart, knowing the fact that my closest friend (at the time) was behind it. As a result, I cut him entirely out of my life... like GONE. After ALOT of time to clear my head and feel comfortable talking to him, I decided to start talking to him and get his side of the story. As time went on, we continued to chat here and there, and I would tell him many times that I would remain by his side to fight and push him through this major obstacle that has entered his life. Months later, some of his "friends" brainwashed me with negative comments about him, then I realized that I was trusting someone's opinion who I only knew for a couple months. I made a promise to him earlier this year that I'd come up and visit him, but only if he made significant steps forward in his life. And he made multiple... so I went and spent the last five days with him. Change was inevitable, but I didn't expect to see SO MUCH CHANGE. From the instant we seen each other, I could tell he changed; the vibe was so much different. My buddy is a completely different guy now. Drama and negativity gone. Quitting habits. Focusing on himself. Being more open to talking about deeper feelings. Staying out of things he doesn't need to be a part of. Its a whole new shell. From talking til 2:30am, going to my first drift event, hanging out the roof of a Jeep with my camera, and being ran around the pool table, the vibe couldn't be matched... this weekend was different from the others. All smiles, and nothing but genuine brother time. I truly could not be prouder of ya. This is my repayment to you for everything you done for me. It is ONLY up from here. Happy Saturday! It's been a while since I've posted my small things so it was hard choosing just ten pix, but I did it. Time spent away with my mom, sister, and brother -in-law tops my list. What can I even say about being a mother besides it’s the most magical, amazing experience that’s also the toughest job in the world. Raising human beings to have purpose (which we see so many kids lacking right now), to be genuinely good people, to have the confidence to go after their dreams, to stand up for themselves and for others, to work hard but also find balance for pure joy, to appreciate the people, things and experiences they have the opportunity to have…to be such a huge part of their lives…it’s the biggest responsibility. I take great honor in being able to raise these two gentlemen. And I have been blessed to have such a beautiful example.
